Default Do you have a high end car and still cut your own grass?

Public Service announcement.

Am I alone? I have several German cars and I still cut my grass. Why am I asking this? If you cut your own grass, then you probably buy gas for your lawnmower also. And you probably fill up the container when you fill up your car - which is probably a high octane fuel.

If your lawnmower is hard to start, try to switch to regular. Switching fuel from premium to regular makes all the difference in the world with my lawnmower.

It took me three years of a crummy running lawnmower to figure this out. Better late than never.

I only use "low test" fuel in all yard equipment. Cost my $43 to fill up my fuel containers this past week, YUK!

Why would lower octane make it start better? I have a JD X500, takes about an hour to mow my own lawn...

I fuel my chipper shredder, rototiller, pressure washer, weed eater, articulated hedge trimmer and lawn mower with regular. Only the Porsche gets premium.

I buy premium for all of our small engines (lawn mower, welders, atv's). They just seem to run better.
Our regular grade gasoline here is 85 octane.

No.

I have found that there are people who accept money in exchange for doing these sorts of things, and that allows me more time with the things I like, such as my family and my car. I do however grow my own tomatoes and hot peppers, and I tend my gardens, which is much more rewarding than mowing the lawn in hot muggy weather.

I also hire people to hang my christmas lights and open/close my pool.

I cut my own grass so that I have more money for gas.
The mower gets the cheapest stuff available, except for that one time that I needed a bit to finish, and it got a bit of 100 octane go juice.

I don't know why - engineering wise - or scientifically wise. I just know by using premium for three years. Last year I took the carb apart, and every year I do a tuneup. Someone suggested changing gas - and it worked.

So I only know through experience.

Oh and I used to put regular in it three years ago because I drove a jeep. I always put regular in the jeep.

Nope. ~$100/mo leaves my weekends free for fun and family.

The bigger difference I found in the lawnmower was using Mobil 1. It was unbelievable how much easier it was to turn over.

I fired my gardner after he cut down my blackberry plant thinking it was a weed. The only weed he ever pulled. The wife now does the yard work since I have golf elbow from playing so much golf. Great wife! Oh regular fuel on the equipment!
