I hear you. I have beautiful wife and two pretty young girls, I don't like having strangers around on a regular basis.

Good point. We enjoy working in the yard and garden but we hate housework. So we do all the yard work but we have a maid service do the house cleaning.

I opened my pool on (Good) Friday. With a trash pump I had it drained in 2 hours. Power washed it and starting filling it with (2) garden hoses.

On Saturday I replaced the rear pads and rotors on my MB G Wagen and cut my grass.

Today I did major league brick as part of my training to get ready for the Escape from Alcatraz Tri in June.

All the above I actually enjoy doing. If I had stupid money would I stop doing this stuff myself? Hmmm....maybe everything but the exercise but I guess I will never know.

Jplanaux-looks like you are an Ironman. Any big races this season?

being in Florida, the yardwork could easily be never ending. I went for a noscape design and am left with just pruning the palms - someone handles the beachfront though.
Regular gas on all yard power-tools.

Re. Triathlons - seems like there are quite a few actually - Alpe d'Huez Triathlon anyone?

In the mid '50's, when i was in the forth grade, my dad sent me out to mow yards with a reel mower for 50 cents. Later, i inflated my price to a whole buck, trimming included. Bought my first sports care, a '63 TR-4, with mowing money, later an MGB, and that started me on my lifelong love affair with small sports cars, not counting a brief dalliance with a '69 Charger R/T (440 ci motor) that I took to Germany as a young Lieutenant.

I won't let anyone touch my grass. My wife does the plants and such, I just dig holes where she tells me too. But the grass, it has to be perfect, as only i can do.

As for fuel and lubricants, i run Redline synthetic in anything that has a piston (Mobil in the Porsche, though), and race gas in their tanks. I take off the mower blade and sharpen it every several times i mow. Has to be razor sharp.

all the best...

I went through three ground crews in the last two years... Just could not find one that was doing a better job than I did.

I know, I need therapy...

We're on a .5 acre lot, although not all is grass. I admit that we get away cheap.

I live in the city but I cut my 6'x6' yard myself (with an electric weedwhacker). I do it for the excercise.. if i'm very throrough it turns into an almost 10 minute workout.

I pay someone to mow my lawn but, like nearly everything else, if you want it done right you should do it yourself.

For many years I did my own snow plowing in my small driveway. The owners manual stated to use only regular gas because of some unspecified problems that would occur with premium as a result of "additives."
