I was just thinking about starting a thread to see if GTS owners would post their driving impression so far, so this was great. I have an 05 C2S which I love. Leader, this may seem like a strange question, but how much faster do you think your car would feel if it had a 6 speed than your 06? Is it a huge difference in sound acceleration etc. or only subtle. I remember riding with a P sales guy who said 25-30 hp difference is not really noticeable, so what about 50-60 hp difference.

Hard to know how much faster my PDK GTS might feel with a manual instead, but the extra 53 ponies are definitely noticeable versus my '06.
To me, both cars are "fast." The GTS just feels stronger, actually quite a bit stronger.

I would think so. Also with more of an 'immediacy' than the twin turbo. There is something about the purity of a light normally aspirated car.....and its not just because I am a turbo wannabe.

[QUOTE=Leader;8274059]My wheel is thicker than the wheel I had on my '06S, but perhaps it's not the CLA option you're referring to.
I know the GTS PDK option gives you steering wheel paddles automatically, so perhaps ordering CLA would not affect that?"
Ordered my GTS yesterday. As the GM and I went through my options he stated that if I order the CLA option (thicker alcantara steering wheel) I lose the paddles. The reason is the thicker steering wheel requires the 3 spoke multi function steering wheel and it comes w/out paddles. So a heads up to those considering the CLA option.

You make one excellent point that hadn't occurred to me before, Leader. You mention how solid the new car feels compared to the earlier models. Mentally, I summarized that as the new car having better handling, but you hit on the best term: solid. Even in a cold rainstorm with summer tires, I felt like the new car was nailed to the road.
For what it's worth, the experience is the same on track. You won't be disappointed if you take your GTS to a DE day.
Oh yes, can't forget to say: yours is a really beautiful example. You and Gravedgr are seriously tempting me. Not to mention TooSixy with his gorgeous blue two. Pity we never replace cars in less than seven years and usually ten.

Gary, it is surprising to me that being a 997.2 owner, you are tempted to get toosixy's beauty . Why ?
Interesting to note that many (me included) here want a thicker steering wheel. When Porsche designed the 993, they deliberately avoided the chunky steering wheel. As Adias mentioned, at that time Porsche racing engineer Peter Falk felt that it made the car feel heavy and less agile distracting drivers from the car's feel.

Two questions:
1--Do the center lock wheels fit on a special hub? I mean, if you wanted an extra set of wheels, would they have to be center lock, or can regular mount wheels still be used.
2--How's the NVH (noise, vibration, harshnest) compared to the C2S? Rougher than a C2S, smoother than a GT3?

(2). NVH all much better on the GTS versus the (five-year-old) C2S. Definitely smoother than a GT3, IMO.
Then perhaps as the GTS's PSE gets a bit more "toasted," it will sound beefier. It's not bad now, but my '06 was growlier. Don't recall if the 997.1 got louder over time. Probably did, but so slowly I really didn't take notice. I believe the GTS's PSE is a slightly different design than the 997.1's, which probably accounts for the acoustic change.

I have the paddle wheel on my 09 C2S and it is thicker than the 2005-08 wheels. I have big hands and the wheel is thick enough.

Was shooting in downtown Los Angeles late this morning, had the GTS along (since it had stopped snowing ).
Couldn't resist the graffiti-ed walls in the Art District.
Mad skills from some of these people. Nice background for the silver 911.
