I would tend to mirror your thoughts on the basics of the car. I don't have Bose, XM, *** (I have normal sport seats) or PDK, however the power and handling/ride are spot on. Unfortunately, in the first month I was only able to rack up ~650 miles. Too much poor weather and things to do on the weekend to take any really long drives and my daily commute is 4 miles...round trip.

Leader, very well written, lots of solid information, it helps me visualize the experience of the new GTS. IMO even with 911 sales off as reported in the Jan. numbers the GTS has to be the dominant vehicle. I found in my ongoing search and monitoring that at least 520 have been built so far and the dealers I have talked to are very pleased with their sales results. Having owned Porsche cars over the decades I view the GTS as a classic not just a model year parts dump as some have stated. I look to join the club sometime during the year. Enjoy...

Saw a black one with the aero kit recently at a dealer. Looked great.

Congrats!

How would you rate the exhaust sound of the DFI/PowerKit/PSE combo?

I've heard the normal .2 DFI exhaust is more muted compared to the .1 engine. I'm hoping the X51/PSE combo brings it closer to the GT3 in the music to one's ears department.

To me, the DFI/Powerkit engine is louder with PSE off than my '06S was with its PSE off. Engine sounds better on the GTS, deeper, less metallic.

However, I believe my '06S was actually throatier and louder with PSE ON, than is the '11 GTS with its PSE ON.

I like the PSE sound on the GTS; it's just not as loud (to me) as my non-power-kit '06 was.

Strange, huh?

NICE! Thanks for sharing. I am in the process of configuring my GTS and I have a couple of questions for those in the know:

Are the paddle shifters included with the standard steering wheel?
If I upgrade to the thicker alcantara wheel (CLA) do I keep the paddles or is there another option code for the paddles?

If you order PDK, you get the paddle-shifter steering wheel.
The thicker, Alcantara wheel comes on all GTSs, regardless of transmission choice.

The configurator on Porsche's website has the "Thicker Steering Wheel in Alcantara" (Order No. CLA) as a $1295 option. My GT3 also came standard with an alcantara steering wheel but CLA was also an option. It is a little thicker than the standard wheel. So I assume that is the case with the GTS. Either that or the configurator is wrong. I want to get the same wheel that I have in the GT3 but want to make sure I don't lose the paddles.

My wheel is thicker than the wheel I had on my '06S, but perhaps it's not the CLA option you're referring to.
I know the GTS PDK option gives you steering wheel paddles automatically, so perhaps ordering CLA would not affect that?

Here's my steering wheel.

Thanks for the photo. Helps lots. Best I can tell the CLA option is a slight bit thicker.
