like gravedgr's car I would say that Sport PASM is a must have for the Carrera GTS. I have it on my Carrera S and love it...for a factory suspension.

Ordered Sport Suspension on the GTS, didn't have it on my '06S.
I've only put 300 miles on the GTS, but the suspension difference is night-and-day.
Three things I really love about my new GTS: the PDK(!), Sport Suspension, and Adaptive Sport Seats. Love the car.

To me...the Carrera GTS is a keeper and should go down as a somewhat rare car and more sought after. You all that have got them have something very very cool!

I don't think so, no. The Sports Suspension just feels perfect to me...tight, but not rigid. It's solid.
PASM engaged is not as harsh as PASM was in my '06 C2S, either, but I still wouldn't recommend it for city street driving.
Because I know you other guys waiting for your GTSs to come in are having a tough time...
here's some GTS **** from the Hollywood Hills this afternoon. Skies were perfect.

At the track the Sport PASM sure does handle better and of course it looks better sitting a tad lower than the regular PASM

PASM is different on the 997.1 and 997.2.
997.1 - PASM Sport is quite punishing on the usual (read bad) road surfaces.
997.2 - PASM Sport is less punishing but very controlled, even on regular surfaces.
SPASM on the 997.2 is 10mm lower than 997.2 PASM and a bit stiffer (but just a bit hardly noticed).
Note: cars with PASM have PASM (adaptive dampers) on all the time in 2 modes: Normal (more compliant) and Sport (less compliant). The system is adaptive and there is a stiffness/compliance overlap between the 2 modes (Normal/Sport) which depends on driving dynamics. I am not reciting what the PAG brochures say - one can appreciate these nuances, but one needs to be tuned to them to perceive them...

I have Sport PASM on my '09 C2S. Since the springs are shorter and firmer I don't think there's any question that in general the overall ride is firmer in both normal and sport modes than on a non-sport PASM car. These things are obviously subjective and one person's firm is another person's plush.
Still, I think you'd have to have a pretty senstitive tush to find the ride with sport PASM objectionable or harsh on the street in any way. I find SPASM the perfect compromise for street and track.

997.1 normal = pillow top mattress
997.2 normal = mattress
997.2 sport suspension normal = memory foam
997.2 sport PASM on = styrofoam
997.1 sport PASM on = plywood
my MINI Cooper S = cinderblock

Doug - my DD is also a MINI Cooper S. It came with 17" rims and run-flat tires.
When I switched to 16" wheels and conventional tires - HUGE improvement!
I'd highly recommend it, if you haven't already done it.
It's amazing what a few mm more of sidewall (not made of steel!) will do for the ride.
