Wow. I wish I could take as 'bad' a picture as that!. You are too modest. Congratulations! I notice everyone so far is getting the centerlock wheels. Is anyone worried about a flat in the middle of nowhere?

The folks at the factory say the "break in period" is for Americans who don't know how to drive.

 

That's not the opinion or advice of the factory folks I know. Every single mechanical device has a 'break-in' phase. Do it right and get rewarded, do it wrong and pay up.

I did get the sport PASM. To my eye it looks similar to the lowered GTS Champion posted on 6speed. The pictures might not show it.

Nope. I'd have the same problem with normal wheels - no spare. I don't live in fear of flats.

Every mechanic I know laughs at the "recommended break in" they print in manuals, including my dealer. Rule number 1 is never break 4k RPM until oil is at operating temps. Rule number 2 is to vary RPM throughout the range, including compression braking from all ranges. Rule number 3 is to exercise all gears, accelerating and decelerating. Rule number 4 is to avoid short trips and stop-and-go as much as possible for the first thousand miles or so.

Otherwise, as noted above, "drive it like you'll drive it".

I have never had an engine failure. I have never had an oil burner. And I have always had strong engines (my '355 hp' C2S dyno'd @ 319 rwhp after a vigorous break in). I don't bang the engine on the redline, but I try to make sure it gets nice and warm and gets a thorough workout every time I turn it over for the first thousand miles or so.

Awesome...you will love Sport PASM...excellent choice...probably the camera angle then. I have Sport PASM on my 09 997S and it has been a great suspension for dual purpose road and track use.

 

I thought the sport pasm was a litle rough on normal mode compared to regular pasm in Normal mode

 

Everything you write about your break-in sounds right. Being too "gentle" on an engine at first can glaze the cylinder walls. Once warm, doing some full throttle runs under load will help seat the rings. (That's even how you break in a new/newly rebuild airplane engine). How close you get to redline during early runs should depend on the intial tolerances in the engine construction.
