Got a pic? that sounds like the wall that hides the Bose amp. I pulled that 8" hi 1.5" wide wall and used it for basement closet decoration.
It would surprise me if they changed the steel from 997.1 to 997.2 without a good reason.

If I were you I would take the tire to a tire shop and have them remove the nail and apply a patch from the inside.

WEIRD! Hummmmm. I had a 997.1S and literally tried to fit my friend's 986S spare in it and it would NOT fit unless it was slanted. What the heck?! There was no nav unit. Anyway, glad it works for you. Weird!
Just went out and measured collapsible unit I have - it's "exactly" 21 inches.

On the flip side, the PCCBs give you faster stop time, so you get to wait a second or two even longer for RA to come rescue you

Ok, now I'm gonna go home and measure what my 997.2 4wd frunk internal dimensions are.
Collapsed spare isn't an issue there as I have the electric pump I can use to inflate it and I can relocate the stuff under the carpet (pump, goop, etc ) if it provides the depth needed.

PCCB are bigger, won't fit overall diameter-wise.
RA guy will hate PCCB owner more if he finds out you blew an extra $8K on them.

So basically a spare tire can fit in the car.
This makes me wonder why they did not just design it in from the beginning
. If they had done the designing it would take up even less space.
How stupid is this?

Definitely a radical turn because:
1. Porsche is supposed to be a 'practical' car.
2. 996 and all previous 911s were provided neatly with a spare

If a leak, then no plug, no tow, no trauma - they get me a new tire under warranty. Seems that Porsche frowns on a patched tire even more than they do on miss-matched tread wear.
I may, at that point, spring for at least another rear and save the warn tire for backup and, depending on the wear, spring for another front as well.

I did cost reduction in a fortune 500 company for a bunch of years and if I told you the things they do to save money your hair would stand up.
Cheap does even begin to describe it.
