Battery or Alternator?

Battery or Alternator?
In the morning my Battery will crack fine and the car starts up no problem. But if I drive to the store, come back out to the car, I don't have enough juice to start the car again. Even if it was a 30 minute trip.
Replace the battery or something else?

How old is the battery? An alternator failure would most likely trigger a light on the dashboard. I'm inclined to think you have a battery issue since they act flaky when they start going bad.

5 years is normal life expectancy on a OEM battery. Alternators and their primary components (voltage regulator) are good for 50K and beyond. I've had them fail at 24K, but that is more of an exception.
I'd start shopping for a new battery. If your handy, it is any easy swap for a do it yourselfer.

Test your battery, given the age you might have a bad cell. It might be the cable also needs further testing. If you need help diagnosing it let me know, i can do a small write up. On my iPhone now!

My money's on the harness. You may ALSO need a new battery since 5 years is plenty old, but I'm betting this particular problem is the harness.
I had the exact same issue. The first time my car failed to start was at a gas station after a 45 minute drive. I replaced the battery for about $400 after all was said and done. The next time my car failed to start I insisted the dealer run a diagnostic test on the starter, alternator, and battery. Sure enough, all signs pointed to the harness and it was replaced under CPO warranty.

+1 on the harness.. My '05 CPO car had a brand new battery when I took delivery. Kept losing its charge even after longer trips. Had to keep a battery maintainer on it every day. Fixed the harness under warranty and problem solved.
