I Germany, acceleration is generally not considered too important. Cruising speed and fuel consumption are considered most imprtant. when I lived there, I regularly drove rover 100 mph and often cruised at 125 mph ( top speed) in my VW Passat TDI. I did not see too many folks driving much faster than that, regardless of the make and model. Actually, you normally only see Audi or VW TDIs cruising for any length of time at those speeds as these cars get 30+ mpg while doing it. Many cars consume too much fuel at those speeds.

As I cannot go so fast in the US ( illegal and dangerous), I mostly drive on the back roads and enjoy the curves, acceleration and braking. My S has all the power I need!
