Default Recent purchase - 2007 997 C2S cab

After a couple months of searching, I finally found the right car. About a week ago, I took delivery of a 2007 C2S cab. It's GT Silver with Black full leather and black top. It has about 15,200 miles and is a CPO car. Pictures of the car coming off the truck are attached.

I decided to purchase a 997 about 3 years ago, so to finally get it is a strange feeling. I've also never owned a cab and it has taken some adjustment being that exposed...my first drive with the top down was about 5 days after I had the car...and it was at night. There were several reasons for not getting the cab, but I just wanted it...and I have not been disappointed. Am I the only one that thinks the cab looks fantastic with the top up??

In any event, I wanted to thank you guys for letting me lurk here for the last several years. This is an incredible resource. I also want to thank Abe for offering to look at the car for me. I bought it out of state and although I had it professionally inspected, Abe's quick inspection was very helpful to me.

Sorry to ask such a weak question with this post, but I can't find it addressed in any of my searches: I often like to drive with the top UP but the windows DOWN. I'm sure this is a novice cab question, but is this a problem at highway speeds?

You really only need to mention the illuminated door sills.
That's what the supermodels go all giddy for.

Beautiful car - congratulations!

One thing - double check the wheels. Above, you mention 19" Carrera Classic Wheels (code 405), but it looks like your car has the 19" Carrera S Wheels (code 403).

I did a quick Google search and Carrera classic wheels look like this:

You're right and I'm confused. I pulled the option list from the dealer listing. Interesting how you can look at something for so long and miss something so obvious. Good catch.

Driving with the top up and windows down at speed is not an issue. Check it out for yourself. Nothing to it.

Congratulations on a very nicely (and fully) optioned car. Fabulous. I expect it must have originally had a MSRP of over $115k.

I'm like you, I do love the look of cabs with the top up or down. I started 3 years ago with an 05 cab, went to a Targa 4S a year later, then 2 months ago reverted to another cab. They are wonderful cars. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.

Congrats on the purchase. No problems driving with the top up and windows down that I have come across.

Thank you for the comments - I'm having a blast with it. Besides endlessly staring at the car in the garage, my time on RL has also increased dramatically in the last week. A frequent comment from my wife, "Haven't you read everything there is to know about that thing by now!"

Soon you will be as inveterate of a cabrio driver as as me.

My decision tree:

(1) Is it Raining?
(1a) IF YES => Is it coming in the top?
(1aa) IF YES => Can I drive faster?
(1aab) IF NO => Is it raining hard enough that I might cause permanent damage to the leather interior?
THEN pull over and close the top.

ALL ELSE => keep top down

I even have one of those hipster caps to wear ironically when it is cold

Try it top down with the wind screen up at highway speed.
You'll be surprised how calm it is.
