Default switchable power outlet

good day friends. our 997.2's have a power outlet beside the leg of the passenger side. This thing is always on as the cigarette lighter outlet is. Anyway to make it switchable with the ignition switch? i think i read that someone discharged his battery because he left his radar detector plugged in.. any experiences? can it be programmed with piwis or the PCM?

No. They are unswitched so you can connect there battery maintainers. If you connect there a radar detector turn the detector off yourself. Besides... radar detectors should never be left unattended in a car, unless you want your car broken in. In addition it is not a good idea to turn on electronic accessories with the ignition - there's always the potential for a current surge. Always power on/off accessories separately.

you might be right but i fitted an after market TPMS, as my car does not have it, and of course i just want the thing on when im driving. now i have to remove the plug from the power outlet to turn it off and plug it back in when i drive off. hassle. i just want the power outlet switched not the cigarette lighter.
