Is this the red pipe? If so it's worthless in my opinion (tried it, took it out the same day)
I ended up putting in a full CAI replacement (replaced the whole stock unit) and really didn't notice any difference other than a bit more noise in the top end

The 997 is already equipped with a "cold air kit" from the factory. What do you think that air intake is from outside the engine area?

What was that Barnum and Bailey used to say? There's a sucker born every minute? Anyone who claims that you can gain 10 hp from such a silly thing is blowing smoke. The filter itself breathes more because it lets more through. And why have they never had to pay out on a failed engine claim? Because there is no way to PROVE that their filter let the grit in that destroyed your engine!

The factory air box is far better than any of the cheapo aftermarket "cold air kits".

In fact most of them are in fact more of a hot air intake than factory since they usually have less isolation than factory.

There's really no need to improve your air intake, but if you must :

If you just want sound, do the "orange cap" hack.

If you really think your engine needs to breathe better, the only way is a dual snorkel setup like the X51 kit.

Default No HP gain but

If you know what your buying and go with a decent maker like maybe an EVO etc..get it... it will NOT add HP, but will add a bit better sound coming from that rear deck lid.... combined with a simple exhaust hack really sounds nice.

Do the mod then hit a track day....

Put BMC oiled air filter panel into stock airbox. It makes more practical difference than those 'kits'.

Agreed with what utkinpol said. I have only the BMC air filter in my stock Airbox on a 997S. More free revving in the 5000+ RPM, compared to stock where it feels a bit more "choked".

The Fabspeed kit will make the car sound a little better at WOT, thats just about all it does.
