ME ME ME ME ME!!! Probably the best Porsche ever made! The styling still looks new today, WAY AHEAD of its time when unveilved... incredible car!

I wish they designed the C4S AWD like the 959 with all of those flexibility options.

Interesting that his car has Mile speedometer??! I thought they never made the car for US market? was the speedometer swaped [I just read the post, it was swaped].

PS. $500K! Maybe... it doesn't however say what EXACT "modifications" were made to make this US road worthy?!

One of my all time Porsche faves. I day dreamed about that car and read everything I could get my hands on when it first came out. Way ahead of it's time in so many ways, sequential turbos, on-board tire pressure monitoring, speed sensitive lift/lowering systems on and on.... *sigh*

Yeah, before marketers took over!

Apart from Carrera GT, Porsche hasn't had any revolutionary car or technology in the past 20 years. DFI was first introduced in Audi FSI, PDK first in VW, many other latest stuff in Porsche are not unique and been introduced earlier by other car companies.

They still offer the best overall sports car package for the price, but are losing the edge in technology and car engineering. 959 technologies were not available to masses for at least 15 years!

Aren't you the fellow who worries about the reliability of PAG's new DFI engine? even when they waited several years after Audi? same for PDK?

Perhaps you are not aware that Porsche is first and foremost an engineering consulting firm. Weissach is today's core to that activity. Weissach works under contract for VW, Audi and many others... and new stuff often appear first in those cars. You, more than anyone, should appreciate that.

To the OP... I see 959s frequently - Canepa is in my backyard. The 959 is long gone and only nostalgia brings it back. The car is not so hot anymore and does not drive as well as you may think. Its market is the car collector market and the examples around are seldom driven.

that's a peach. i saw a 959 up here last fall getting a $40k stereo put in it. very funny. good for that guy, IMO. he wants to jam some tune while he's driving his car.

Porsche pioneered the double clutch transmissions years ago. VW etc may have mass-marketed them before Porsche, but Porsche did in fact come up with the idea.

I'm pretty sure Porsche also pioneered the concept of charging for floormats, too

Well sure, of course. Nostalgia is great though.

This was the only one I could afford. One day back in the 1980s I was at Werk I and saw at least 10% of their total production. Keep in mind that since the 959, the 997 was the first to have a dynamic suspension. I suspect the 997s drive a LOT nicer than the 959 did in its day. And we're only 15-25 mph slower...

Since I was a teenager seeing my first ever one on the pages of Road and Track back in 1985 I have drooled many times for such a fine machine. If I ever hit the big lotto it would be a sliver one for me

I may be the only person on the planet that thinks that car is fugly...performance be damned. I'm not for nostalgia, and would take a modern TT in a heartbeat (assuming I could afford either)

When I was a kid, my bedroom was full of 959 pictures hanging on the walls.

When I look at the 959 now, it does have a bit of an outdated and
over the top look to it.

That being said, it is a nastalgic car to me and I will always respect its
performance and advanced engineering for its day.
