Porsche Jan '10 sales

WOW! It it wasn't for Panamaera, it would have been more than 25% drop in sales! and we thought last year was bad!
Cayman/Boxster dead? It sure sounds like the upper end is not affected as much (911), while lower-end is, so people who could barely afford Porsches are driven out of the market.

Wonder how much cross-shopping of models there is, ie folks who wanted a Porsche and might have bought a 911 or Cayenne, but bought a Panamera instead? I imagine there were some, which means that the 25% you mention without Panemara, maybe isn't quite that bad. Who knows.....

I don't know about cross-shopping, however, I have heard that 9 out of 10
Boxter/Cayman owners are cross dressers.

You make a good point. I'm just saying that the bottom line is that sales were up overall by 8%. If you look at the numbers, Cayenne sales were down a lot but they sold more than enough Panameras to make up this difference. I could be wrong, but it looks to me like Panamera stole some sales from the Cayenne. Should the numbers be better relative to the improvement in the economy?.....maybe so.

[QUOTE=At Law;7287362]Sounds a little harsh. I owned a Boxster S for 2 years and never crossed dressed. Not saying it couldn't happen....maybe I was the 1 out of 10.

Panamaera will however steal a lot of sales from M5, S6/S8 buyers.

I doubt Panamera is stealing that much from the other groups and its surely got some boost because its new and picking up a new slice of the market, and I would expect sales to gradually level off after the early adopters are in. Jan last year sucked big time (that's when the market really started going into a huge dive), so I'd say Jan 2010 sales are dismal overall.
