Well, I heard that that's a pretty douchey thing to say.

I think bottom line is that those in the market at the Boxster/Cayman price point are more greatly impacted by the economy, and that SUVs are no longer big sellers.

The Panamera may be cannibalizing some Cayenne sales, but because the car sells at a much higher price point, I doubt all of those buyers would have otherwise bought Cayennes. The Panamera is new; it's far too early to call it a success.

Are they still?

I know the leftover '09s can be had at a great price. But they're also now automatically a year old, even if bought new. I haven't heard of MY10s being discounted to the degree the '09s were back in September or so.

Not sure what the deal is on the low sales of Boxsters/Caymans, but do agree with others that the Panamera is taking sales away from the Cayenne. For folks wanting a practical Porsche, the Cayenne was the only game in town. But now there's also the Panamera which plays to the same market.

Local dealer called me with a 15K discount on a new leftover 911. That's the reality of the market. The used car market has plenty of inventory as well which makes things great if you are a buyer.

Even though the 911 is "the" Porsche to have I believe you'll see those who want the Porsche car as image only will now opt for the Panamera.

Those of us that want performance and sports coupe handling will still opt for the 911 as purists do.

The Panamera sort of looks like a 911 and has the 4-door functionality for those who want that image instead of performance. I feel 911 sales will falter in the coming year or two with more and more Panamera's sold...

Wouldn't that imply sales of the Cayman would have remained steady for the sports coupe purists, and 911 sales would have dropped as the image-only people switch to the Panamera?

So these dealers are selling, on average 2.5 911s a month and a grand total of 8.5 Porsches of all kinds per month. Granted that this is probably the slow season but still.................
