Default Some idiot has bumped into me in Parking lot

Hey guys... totally BUMMED OUT. was just shopping at a shopping mall, parked in a WIDE space. After a cpl of hour of shopping I got back and saw someone has bumped into the rear of my bumper and has left a NASTY scratch and damage!

The car WAS MINT, NOT EVEN A SCRATCH, totally perfect. I AM SOOOOO PISSED OFF and sad

Here are some pics (sorry for bad phone quality)... does it need a complete bumper paint? or can it be touched/buffed/polished?

Terrible feeling, was babying the car as much as I could... feels like my car's violated.

Thanks

Looks like it's missing paint. You might be able to have it air brushed. Sorry to hear about your ordeal. There are some absolute asses out there that don't give a blind *** about other people's properties.

Meteor, I keep a beater for this very reaon - shopping malls, beaches and restaurant parking lots are no place for our cars these days - people simply do not respect others property - sad but reality. hope you get it all fixed soon.

Ain't that the truth. My wife never understood why I prefer not to drive the Pcar out to the mall until she came home with a large ding from the mall.

It's definitely missing paint. Most of it is minor scratch BUT there's a part that's pretty bad, the paint if completely off and you can feel the paint off with your nail... It's not a big deal really, but since I AM ****, don't want it to look painted EVER! and not sure how much painting is needed for this damn thing.

Take it to an accredited Porsche panel shop in your area for an assessment; Rennlisters closer to you will be able to offer names. Its likely the only way to get a perfect finish will be to redo the entire bumper cover.

Looks like you will definitely need a re-paint of the bumper. I'd have the whole thing re-done; not just a blend job. If it makes you feel any better, my previous Carrera had the front bumper scratched while at the dealer for service. They repainted the entire front bumper cover and it looked absolutely as good as new. Yours can look perfect again too with a proper paint job. Very sorry for your troubles. Also stay away from shopping malls with the P car!

Painting the whole bumper is no big deal. It should be all but invisible. I had the entire rear bumper replaced and painted recently and you simply can't tell that there was any damage whatsoever.

Obviously it's time to trade it in.

The exact same thing happened to me just before Christmas and on the same spot too. I had a custom shop repaint the bumper and to detail the entire car. Just got it back and it looks brand new. Nothing that can't be fixed.

sux. try buffing 1st. then wait. then bluff again. and then if it still bothers you respray the whole bumper.

It's definitely fixable. I had an incident where somebody's hubcap fell off his car while driving and hit me head on while I was going in the opposite direction. It put a nice gouge in the front bumper. $700 later at the body shop, you couldn't even tell anything had ever happened. It's an easy fix.

repaint the bumper. (it only needs the clear sanded and a quick spray over the scratch then recleared, thus it is still orginal paint, just recleared)

id say the moron who hit your car saw that it was a porsche and didnt want to stick around for a repair bill that might cost the price of their beater....
