Default PDK confusion

I wanted to press the forward arrow button on the PCM to select the next song, but subconsciously chose to upshift the PDK button instead. I am still not liking the PDK controls, after owning the car for 2 months. I only drive my PDK in manual mode, continually trying to force myself to get accustomed to it. Problem is my daily driver, a Dodge Ram has song up/down & volume up/down behind the steering wheel right where the PDK controls are for my 911.
No more button gimmicks, I want my 6-speed back.

You could tow the 911 with the horses!

I have an A-3 with the paddle shifters and the back side right, one pulls in to up shift and the left side is pull in for down shift. With my PDK Cayman S convertible, I have made a few inadvertant down shifts when thinking I am going up! I leave the PDK in auto most of the time, but it is a true manual in the manual mode. One just has to hit the correct buttons. And, my initial comment was going to be, Sell the Ram, until I scrolled down!

This is actually a fairly common problem. The man machine interfaces are nonstandard across the automotive industry and this leads to confusion as you move across your personal 'fleet.' I have had that problem over time from all my vehicles, and when renting cars for extended periods. Although it can be learned you might simply cover over the truck's controls so that you're not tempted to use them and remain focused upon mastering those controls for the PDK.

I am hoping that some smart entrepreneur reads these threads and develops an aftermarket fix I was tempted to actually get a PDK next, btu I cannot believe the constant complaining, all of which makes sense.. Sheesh, this is a $100K car...you'd think Porsche would be able to get this right.

Or... PAG must copy the Dodge RAM controls literally.

I think there's some confusion all-around. If you were selecting another song in the rear of the steering wheel as in your Dodge RAM in your PDK wheel... you downshifted, NOT upshifted.

As Dan says, machine interfaces are all different. I say, take that as challenge to fire up some neurons and establish new synapses.
