Use the shifter, push to upshift (think up into 3rd) and pull for downshift, think back into 2nd)

what ever you do, don't chew gum while driving!

seriously, suggest you go for a long ride and shift every 20 sec or so whether you need to or not. tell yourself what you intend to do, and then slowly at first, deliberately and accurately execute the command.you'll be seemless in an hour (OK, two hours if you took the little bus to school)

Problem is my daily driver, a Dodge Ram has song up/down & volume up/down behind the steering wheel right where the PDK controls are for my 911.
No more button gimmicks, I want my 6-speed back.
You know, I always felt that Chryslers steering wheel controls were the best. They are hidden behind the wheel but as you said they become subconscious to use.

Switching back and forth from a 750 family car to the 997 dailey driver Im constantly turning on the wipers in the c2s when I try to engage park! That damn BMW shift stalk has me trained, and I would hardy call that design intuitive, I still ask valets if they know how to use the system. I have the multifuction wheel on the 997 as well as the bmw Im always getting the buttons wrong. That being said I NEVER engege the manual mode in the bmw and always do so in the pcar

One other quirk has anyone found that they think there in park with the PDK but are actually in reverse? Its happen to me three times, it seems that he notch for reverse isnt that far from the notch for park

Don't listen to those who tell you to suck it up and live with it. It's a crap, a** backwards system. You deserve better than the poorly designed compromise in your car. Porsche has recognized this fact and will be offering a proper paddle-shifter steering wheel this Fall that will resolve your problem.

Paddles, buttons -- it doesn't matter, it's still an automatic with a wide brake pedal and a gas pedal.

You misunderstood his post. He says he wishes he had another 6-speed. Not that he wishes he had paddles.

OCBen, PDK is not even close to a automatic. It is a manual without a clutch pedal.

With PDK... you can't leave it in Drive all day, at least not if you have a performance bone in your body.

Have you tried it yet?

Of course.

But I would never get it.

It takes the sport out of sports car driving.
