yes. and it's even less than the PCCB option and you get the big reds to boot. i had a C4 and now have a C4S for 5k it's a no brainer

I'd agree with most of the fellas here- at this price point, north of $50K- another $5K for more horses, upgraded brakes, 19"s, and xenons- it was worth it for me, even though I wouldn't necessarily take advantage of all that, all the time-

actually, many of the c2 cars out there already have the bi-xenons and 19's (some of the most commonly seen options on base c2)... it might be more accurate to say the delta of 4-5K is for the brakes, tips, pasm, etc...

i'm just basing the diff on what i see locally (low-mid 40's for a c2 and mid 40's to low 50's for a c2s). this is for 05-06's...

Good point. In particular, the xenons are an option practically everyone has. 5k for a bigger engine, PASM, brakes, etc. still seems sane if you want the options.

Ask yourself why you are buying the 997?

Bragging rights? Get the 997S.

Performance? If you are an experienced racer, get the 997S. If you don't have much time on the track or autocross circuit, odds are that you, the driver, are the performance bottleneck - not the car. In this case, I would consider the base 997 with whatever creature and performance options you'd like. I'm happy with the 19-inch wheels and PASM, and love the Nav for everyday getting around, wife likes the heated seats.

In the name of full disclosure, I have the non-S. More than plenty of performance for my style of day-to-day "spirited" driving around town. And although I race autocross, I still know there's more performance in my car than I am capable of wringing out of it. I do hope to get my skills to the point where the 997S makes sense (and makes for a good excuse to trade in the non-S for a new 997S!).

Maybe Yes, Maybe No.

If you feel you can use the extra power of an "S", go for it.
On the street the 3.6 is fine. You won't use even close to what even a 3.6 is capable of on the street. If you track buy the "S".

Well stated.

In the end, you end up purchasing what happens to come along and you feel
is a fair value.

I don't believe there is a person on this forum (or at least there shouldn't be a person who is buying $50k toys) who could not pay $5k or $10k more for an "S."

There is no status in purchasing an "S." There is always someone out
there who has a car that is "better"-- a Turbo, a GT3, a classic James Dean
Spyder, etc., etc., etc.

I have never ever bought a car that was the sportier version and had buyers remorse. Just ask yourself, can you have too much horsepower?

Perfect response. Of course not.

But at 10% extra? Your call.

I've got a non-S and would like an S. But I'd love a GT3.....!

If that was the critical question, you would be driving a Vette (or a Turbo).
