If a car has the phone icon and that little slot for the SIM card, does that mean it has the telephone package? If not, what would it cost to add?

Is new hardware required or is it just a software change? If it is just a software update, it shouldn't be that expensive. But then again, there is nothing a dealer does that is inexpensive.

I recommend the Tooki module which is a fairly Do-It-Yourself installation on a Saturday afternoon. The original factory design was quite poor,--imagine having to remove your SIMM card each time you get into your car! With Tooki and others, the phone can remain in your pocket and the bluetooth link is seamless.

Does tooki make use of the interface and the phone buttons on the steering wheel?
If the car has a phone module, I was just thinking of buying one of those pay as you go sim cards.

Having the multifunction steeling wheel is nice (I have it) but not essential for the phone system. They just give you more options on buttons to push to answer, hang up, and scroll through your phone list on the PCM.

The SIM card slot is in all the recent cars, whether or not you have the phone option (666). I have bluetooth in my new 09 TT and I have to say it is wonderful! When I jump in my car and turn it on, it automatically connects with my cell and the speaker phone works very, very good; my phone book was imported automatically, and I can control everything from the touchscreen or built in phone buttons. I would check out bluetooth before considering the phone option (unless you want a dedicated GSM phone in your car).

Just recently installed a Tooki which I got through Ebay for a fair price. If installed properly (I did put the Tooki module under my passenger seat as I have a Dension Gateway installed already behind the PCM.) and with the latest software installed for Tooki and the Parrot module in the Tooki it works great. Pay attention on the proper connection of the MOST Fiber optics ring. It took me two hours to install and 3 days to get the proper software loaded (10/24 and 1.61). It works very well now with my IPhone and the Motorola RAZR of my wife.
