Default Squeak in the Spoiler

Okay, okay,--it's a slow night.

But since I got the car when I'm about to wash the car I reach in and push the "spoiler up" button and up it comes,--but never quietly! It always has a cheap squeak sound to it. So, I decided it was time to do something about it.

Enter a can of WD-40. Sprayed conservatively (or liberally, depending upon your political persuasion) onto both sides of the plungers and at every other hinge you can find related to the tail,--and eventually it will stop.

Back to your regular programming.

Dan, same the same squeak in the spoiler as well. While I had my car in for the broken shifter cable repair, I told my SA regarding the squeaky spoiler. They lub it and took care of it.

Dan, I used lithium grease on mine. THe only time I ever heard it squeak was when I raised the spoiler manually. Strange.

I had same problem. Dealer lubed mine about a year ago, and the squeak has not returned.

I had the same problem, but dealer ended up replacing the motor that operates the spoiler (under warranty).

I've never once put my spoiler up manually.
I might have to try this.

I've wondered if the spoiler required lube.
