Default New Porsche 998 Turbo spotted in Southern Sweden

Sunday I spotted a number of Porsche 998 Turbo's i Southern Sweden.

There were 2 cabriolet's, 1 Turbo and 1 apparently a 4S.

The rest was Turbo Coupe's, of which 1 or 2 had rollbar.

Observe that some of the cars are equipped with bumperettes, which is only used on the US market.

I think he's just a little confused. You'd think being in Germany's (relative) back yard he'd be better informed then us over here.

Yeah, if those were disguised somehow, or the crest was hidden with dark tape, you can surmize they'd be 998's. With the openness shown, 997's.

Yeah they look like 997's but maybe they were testing new engines or transmissions...

Isn't the next generation classified as the 991?

Trying to give this some benefit of the doubt ... and it's not easy, since these are clearly not 998/991 cars ... but I could be convinced of something like "Cold weather testing of PDK for a 997.2 introduction in 2001 in the GT cars." I think the US spec bumpers are curious and they're wearing antennae for long range two-way radios or even data transmission for live analysis in the Carrera "chase" car. That's about as far as I can stretch it all ... : )

Then again, I saw the Honda Insight testing in AZ and would have sworn it was just a Prius with some weird experimental interior and exterior mods, but no, inch for inch, it was a Honda almost entirely undisguised.

Maybe 997 turbos are rare in sweden.
Maybe they were Americans who took European delivery.

Looks like German plates...though don't recognise the city code...LB?

PAG vehicles tend to use either S (Stuttgart) or BB (vaguely recollect this is a village near the factory)....

LB - Ludwigsburg, Baden-Württemberg

12 miles north of Stuttgart: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ludwigsburg
Probably some sort of factory exercise, though I have no idea what. It's fun stumbling upon factory test cars like that. I was excited when I snapped a couple photos of an E90 BMW test car in a small town south of Munich a several years ago.
