In view of declining sales, what is the appropriate discount to move a car in inventory? Is 5% acceptable or is a better deal available? A close friend, who wants to step up from an 02 996 asked my opinion, and I was unsure. Thanks AS

10% for a new '09, far more for an '08.

9% for sure on a 2009. There is a LOT of 2009 inventory on the ground right now! Some dealers probably won't go more that 6%. If that happens, tell your friend to WALK and look somewhere else. Have him contact Chris (likemystoppie) at Porsche North Olmsted (Cleveland, OH) to see what he can do.

If it has the "Sport Bucket Seat" I think that a great deal can be had, since it is not too popular an option.

I agree. My local dealer has a launch car with those. Apparently I'm one of the few people who have come in to look at the car and like the seats. They are having a hard time getting rid of it.

You might try looking at Amex's auto program. I created the car I wanted to order on this website and used it to negotiate with my local dealer. Very effective! If you are buying off the lot, you should be able to do better still?

My girlfriend picked up a new 2008 C4S on Saturday (which happened to be the last day of a very slow month so they were willing to deal). The already discounted price on the car (as attached in the sales brochure PDF) was $88,904 with a sticker of $98,905. She got it for just over $80k.

i am looking at a deal much like jragan's - it is a brand new 2008 leftover C4s cab and they ageed to 21% off list - 50 km on it or so. thinking of rolling the RS Spyder into this car. = 55 hp and that torgue is so alluring.

it also still qualifies for lease based on the $134k CDN mrsp, so the tail end gaurantee is Pcar's problem. of course i would have to keep it to the end of lease!

I got 10% off my order about a month ago, but with all of the production cuts I'm not sure if that will continue (meaning on ordered cars). 10% should hold on product on the dealer lots though - at least until demand improves, which might not be until 2010 based on the latest information I'm seeing.

I sold our Launch C4S Coupe within 2 days of it arriving. Client is a local Dr who travels about 60 miles a day to his Hospital....called me to Thank Me for selling him the car. lol He's more of a crack addict for that car then I've seen anyone.
