Abe, the door mirrors being mounted on the actual door and not the A-pillar is a new design approach for Porsche and will be continued with the 998/991. Apparently, this improves driver cornering visibility as the driver has that additional crack of glass to look through.

Actually, this would be a reversal for Porsche. For decades all Porsche rear-view mirrors were directly mounted to the door. As part of a manufacturability and assembly concession Porsche adopted the A-pillar mount,--it saves time assembling the cars. I don't care for them personally, so it's good to see the older approach coming back.

I wave at everyone who initiates, regardless of what they're driving. I also make an attempt to initiate a wave whenever I come across another Porsche, although most times they don't return the wave. It's not a snobbery or exclusivity thing; it's just an acknowledgment of a commonly shared passion. To me, it's much like the bond between fans of sport franchises.

I wave to all Porsche...think of how much better you 997 is than the older model. That improvement was "partly" brought to you by all the money Porsche made selling Cayennes. More sales - more R&D. People like to beat up Cayenne but I can tell you they're an awesome vehicule, I own one tto.

The Pana might not be to everyone's taste but it will be a good car, it's Porsche, so

The Christophorus photos, at least the cover, make it look quite decent. Not that its for me, but I'll not begrudge anyone wanting to spend money on one, though it does seem 'odd' to buy a sports car make of a 4 passenger sedan. Sorta like the VW Phaeton, its really a model that is mismatched with the brand... but then I'd say the same about the Cayenne. I suspect they are really just a way to fill a demand thats there.

Are you driving a Honda when this picture was taken?

I LOVE the Panamera!
It's a nice change to the boring boxy design you see everywhere on the road. It's hard to tell the difference between a Kia to a Mercedes now days.
When somebody waves at me, I always wave back no matter what they drive. I enjoy friendly people.

Although that's clearly a Honda in the reflection off the pickup's tailgate (and it's also likely the driver of the Honda snapped the photo), Edgy never said he was the one who took the photo.

I can't wait for the Panamera's arrival. I think it will look better in the flesh, drive well, be highly tunable in turbo form and possibly Porsches next foray into racing seeing as the 911s are no longer competitive.

Roll on Panamera and roll on the Porsche hot hatch next!

You gotta wave....If Harley owners can do it or for that matter almost all bikers, we can sure "do" the wave to each other...

When I use to ride my Harley's I waved at everyone....it was a real nice comradery. This was the same way when I use to own Vette's back in 87-97. With my Porsche's I hardly ever get a wave.

As for the Panerama I consider it a Porsche no doubt. It seems to have the Porsche technology and so forth. I am not crazy about it's looks but I can not make final judgment until I see it in person.
