What ever tire you end up with get a very accurate alignment and get them to remove tow up front to around zero toes and only around -.10-14 toe in the rear and your tires will last so much longer.

10K is great -- I'm on my fourth set on my '07 (Pirelli P Zero Rosso).

The first set of rears lasted 9,100 miles.
The second set of rears lasted 7,689 miles.
The third set of rears lasted 6,661 miles.

The first set of fronts lasted 14,000 miles.
The second set of fronts lasted 9,451 miles.

That's the price you pay for grip. Moving to harder compound rubber is going to cost you performance. At least on a C2S (without training wheels) all the power is back there and quite a bit of the steering too.

I went through two sets of PS2's and liked them. I am now on a fairly new set of RE050's and while I haven't driven them hard enough to really judge them, they are fine tires if you want to save a few bucks.

Keep in mind that Porsche set up your suspension for maximum performance. Tire economy is not really on their minds. My car came with Bridgestones and I replaced them all finally at around 32,000 miles. I think of all the typical OEM brands out of Stuttgart the Bridgestones have the best wear,--last the longest,--and are remarkably outstandingly good performers. With your C4 figure on less tire mileage than the C2s because you're spinning 'two axles' instead of one. I get roughly twice the tire mileage out of the front to the rears. This has been typical for me since the early 1980s with the 911.

I discovered how much fun it is to visit the track. Not only am I driving harder and doing more DEs but I've also moved to a more aggressive alignment which accelerates the tire wear.

Default PS2 vs. RE05A

Short version:

Burned through a set of four PS2s in about 11-12 K of spirited street driving - CAREFUL - was down to cords on one rear.

Tires were spectacular. Grip came in early and stuck extremely well, predictable. Got a little squirmy after 5,000 miles in the colder weather. I would say the tires are extremely well suited to the 997 - I understand they was some co-development, aside from N-rating, witness the Carrera Cup.

RE05As do not have the outright grip of the PS2s, but wear far better, and remain very predictable. The tires like to be warmed up before really coming in, then very good linear response.....Tires are skatey when cold on the street. I am on my second set of REs, the first set was still going strong at 10K, but one tire developed a hernia, possibly from a road hazard...... Replaced the whole set, new ones fine thus far.......I now have a new alignment that is more performance oriented as well, but thats another story...

Conclusion: if I had the dinero, PS2s all the way. Since I don't have $2K for every 10 K miles, I will save the 600.00 odd dollars and go RE.

I had PS2s but went with Bridgestones in the fall. One of my rears was corded. For the price of 2 rear PS2s I got a set of Bridgestones. They are more compliant and quieter than the Michelins and are more than adequate for street use.

Either choice lasts an eternity compared with R-compounds for track use. I'm lucking to get 1200 miles out of a set.

My car came with P-Zero Pirelli's. On all prior cars, when I and a set of Pirelli's crossed paths, it was always a dissatisfying experience. Noisy, bad and inconsistent wear, and seemingly inconsistent performance. And, huge performance degradation as they aged. This time? No different. I must have pad Pirelli karma. Swapped to PS2's and couldn't be happier. Night and day.
I've heard the Bridgestones have better wear. Also curious about Kumho's. But can't imagine changing.
