If mazda scrapped 100% of its parts, I would expect porsche to do the same. Too much liability in terms of legal and brand to use those parts again.
It will cost them $4 to $5M to guarantee no law suits and no bad press. A no brainer in any executives eyes. Seems really cheap to me.

Morning-after amateur shots from a train wreck that happened at 12:22 a.m. in Dillenburg (Germany) last night... one cargo train rear-ended another... no injuries... according to the report there were "106 luxury cars" on the train", of which "18 Porsche were severely damaged". No other information available yet.

The insurer of the carrier (the rail transporter in this case) is liable and will be expected to pay for all losses.
Porsche is entitled to the full wholesale value of the damaged cars (the price they would get from dealers), which obviously is more than their actual manufacturing cost for each, and less than the retail value of each.
The carrier is at fault here, and the carrier's insurance will cover the losses.
