Laguna Seca Info Needed
Am going to the ALMS race next weekend. Any tips for getting the most out of a race at Laguna Seca? Where to sit? Best way to the track from Monterey? Can you bring in alcohol/food? Do you need to bring folding chairs? How bad is the traffic on access/egress?

Grandstands between turns 4/5 are good. You see a lot of action from that spot. You'll need to 'hike up' to turns 8 & 8A to view the awesome 'Corkscrew' action. You can lug up some lightweight chairs and sit on the hill sides adjacent to the 'corkscrew'.
I believe you can just about bring any type of food or beverage since it's stowed in your car. You'll need some sort of back pack to lug it around however. You'll find lots of places to eat/drink in the paddock areas.
Bottom line . . . wear some comfortable shoes. Laguna Seca is a track you'll do a lot of walking about.
Most important . . . Have Fun!

I've been tons of times and I used to live in Monterey. Here are my suggestions (some already mentioned):
1) My favorite place to watch is at the Corkscrew. If you're fit, walk up the hill from the paddock side and you can see action on 75% of the track. At the top of the hill, you can sit in a grandstand, but I prefer to bring a blanket or chairs and sit under the trees. You can get some great photos there, too.
2) Bring food! It's ridiculously expensive now to eat there. If you have the time/inclination, look up my friend Bennett's shop, Compagno's. It's on Prescott and they have the best sandwiches anywhere. Tell him Chris sent you - he'll hook you up!
3) Bring lots of water. Nuff said.
4) Bring a hat and sunscreen. Even when it's overcast, it's very easy to get burned to a crisp.
And my most important one:
5) Walk the paddock!! There are very few places where you can get right up close to the latest racing machinery.
Enjoy - it's a great time of year in Monterey!

It's a long enough race that you'll have time to walk the entire track, and it's worth it if you want to see all the turns so wear walking shoes. Ingress/egress is usually not a problem.
My favorite areas are:
1. above the the track between turns 1 and 2.
2. The stands between turns 4 and 5
3. Above turn 6
4. The corkscrew
