I had an CLK AMG 55 a while back, a nice fast car. I enjoyed it but the 911 is way different car. Just tighter and more precision.

The new Autoweek claims that this is the first AMG to offer great handling as well as great power. I agree that it's still too heavy to really be considered a sports car.

Nonetheless, it's nice to have some alternatives to the butt-ugly cars BMW has been producing of late (although the new 3 series coupe has finally purged enough of the awkwardness of the early Bangle designs that I actually like it).
