Don't tell me this is how you know all that engineering ****.
I've known about it but had always thought it was too expensive at $70/yr for dubious benefit - not really in school anymore. Okay, I'm cheap too.

Serious question for you-- I know you have a mini. I am also considering a second P car...probably a 993 or 987S. CS would stay as daily driver.
Does it kill you to drive that mini everyday while that beautiful 997S just sits there under wraps?

Yep, especially when it's so underpowered. That's what kills me the most. I often have to downshift all the way to second to be able to accelerate a bit, and shifting into second is always a bit notchy and stiff. Plus, the constant shifting wears me out after my commute home.

But I got it so it can take the abuse of my commute. I got it June and I already have 17k miles on it. My roundtrip commute is almost 100 miles.

But on the up side, when I get into my 997 on the weekends it really feels like a powerful machine.

So when did you get your 997? Did you buy it new? The usual options?

Bought it new in January 06. Kind of a spur of the moment thing (i was bored one weekend and next thing I know I have a 911). pretty basic options, xenons, nav, full leather, etc. Should have bought the 997s but dealer didnt have a black 997s in stock so I picked up the 997.

Well at least you got full leather and the xenons, plus nav. I'm sure it feels powerful enough for you, especially when you compare it to your Boxster.

yeh its powerful enough. to tell you the truth i have driven both and not sure the average driver in daily (non track) conditions can really appreciate the difference between the s and non s. I know some on this board have strong views about this but....

that said when you add in the cost of the xenons, leather and a few other things you end up close enough to the 997s price that it just makes sense to buy the s --as long as it is in stock, that is.

Weak.

They're tied for first with the Yanks and the Blue Jays, and only appear at the top of the list because it's compiled alphabetically. Weak.

Now take a look at my Injuns who lead the entire American League at 3 and 1.

Unfortunately not all information is available for free over the internet.

Wikipedia is a joke, as just about anybody can make entries and edits to please their whim. This was proven the other day in OT when somebody made up a nonsensical word and entered it in Wiki with a detailed definition and explanation of the word, and there it was for all to see and for us in the forum to get a good laugh out of it.

Anyway, I enjoy having a trusted source of accurate information and that's why I've relied on Britannica over the years. My current set is dated when it comes to info on the latest technologies and any significant recent advances, but it's obviously still quite accurate about historical facts, which I enjoy researching for pleasure from time to time.

I just ordered the 2007 DVD version of the latest set for $49.95, which in book form costs about $1700.00.

You're quite welcome, DG. And good for you for doing so.

The DVD will take about 3-5 business days for delivery once it ships after order processing, which can take 24-48 hrs at the most, according to their online ordering info.

You'll get with your order a complimentary 90 day free access to their online service which you can access from any computer once you log on to their site. But while you're waiting for it to come in the mail you can take advantage of their free 7 day trial use of the online service, which you can use right now in the meantime. (I plan to do this tonight after dinner.) And once your order comes in you can pick right up where you left off with the free 90 day complimentary bonus.

Not a bad deal, huh?
