Default Rare PDE mishap

I was at the PDE masters course at Barber motorsports this weekeng and an unfortunate student went wide on turn 16 (before straightaway), almost recovered but overcorrected and snap turned left into the concrete wall separating the course from pit lane. Car was totalled with the left front rim tattooed on the concrete. It was mabe his second lap. Track was a little cold. Nevertheless he was physically okay other than an airbag burn. He did not return to the class but apparently was offered and invitation to return to complete the Masters course for no additional fee.
This was an extremely rare incident and is a testament to the level of instruction and class of the whole operation.
For anyone considering it I had a blast and felt safe the whole time.

Default Too bad about the crash

It is never nice to hear about the total loss of a Porsche!

Good thing that everyone was OK. Thanks for the photos.

A couple of comments on the incident....
It happened durring the first lead follow of the day.

Car went off into the grass prior to the track out curbing way before the track out cone
As most accidents happen, the results are cumulative, doing somthing wrong quite early and thinking that you can get thru it. All it takes is a momentary lapse of attention...Driving requires 110% of your attention at all times.

Looking where you want to go, not where you are going, is so important.

There is now a wall of cones to help guide you thru...

Photos below show:
The entrance to the corner. (Now lined with cones)
Skidmarks going across the track..notice trackout cone far ahead.
Wall Slap
Lots of birds...a few lost their lives

Would that be 100% of the time, or 110% of the time?

On the bright side, some one is going to get a great deal on a "corporate car."

Are you allowed to turn off PSM at PDE? Especially on the first day?

Can't speak for the Masters course, but at "regular" PDE the buttons are disabled except for the skidpad car. You can press it to your heart's content and nothing happens.

disabling PSM is not permitted, after the courses I would only disable it on a skidpad/snowpad for fun.
