Default Escort Solo S2 Story

I have the Solo S2. I made the decision because I didn't want the cord hanging over the dash.

Thursday I was driving home from work, I'm lucky because my communte is 25 highway mile each direction, with a long stright-a-way through Washoe Valley (South of Reno, North of Carson City). It was dark when I entered the valley. My detector gave me a brief hit, then another several seconds later, then another, so I set the cruise at the speed limit and moved into the slow lane. I noted the trip odometer when I got the third hit from the detector. It was 4.6 miles before I reached the NHP staked out in the center median. I was amazed at the range of the detector.

I've had the Solo 2 cordless for a while now and have no complaints.
Not much false alarms, and yes, sometimes pretty good distance detection.
But there are also many times I've had less than quarter mile alerts, it could also mean the cops are using instant on.

I loved the drive between Carson City and Lake Tahoe... Hilly, winding and smooth and yes straight too. Oh, yes, the Ponderossa... Memories...Back than, I used to zoom by w/ my GTI. Maybe it's time for Emily to visit carson city again...Thanks Azurro for the flashback....

I have the Solo S2 also and I'd buy it again.

S2 is a fantastic little device (never failed me), although I confess I am thinking about the new Escort that's coming out and breaking down and hard-wiring the thing.

I have been very happy with the S2 as well. Several trips across the country. I will make sure I have it on board when south of Reno!

I've used my S2 successfully in my other cars but can't decide on the ideal location for placement in my new C4S. Where and how do most of you mount the unit?

Mine is just to the left of the rear view mirror and down a few inches - difficult to see from the outside in this position.

I place mine just half and inch above the security indicator light on the dashtop.
Works fine detecting front and rear signals so far.

I too love my Solo S2. I keep it just to the right of the rear view mirror and as high as possible.

I have mine mounted high. It fits nicely just left of center behind the rear view mirror.

I hate to break it to you guys but compared to a 12volt unit the cordless S2 is a POS.

The the very low amperage of just two aa batteries makes the unit's sensitivity seriously inferior.

You need more amps to make a senstive unit like V1 or 8500.

Notice the S2 is verrrry cleverly advertised as far as mention of it's range is concerned; it is NEVER compared to 12v corded units.

ALSO: it is asleep a large portion of the time to conserve battery power.

I'd only use it for puttering around town where you already know cops hang out.
