Default Your Favorite High Speed Highway

Where are the roads where you can open it up? With little fear of getting caught. Out here it's I-8 between Casa Grand and Yuma, No traffic and the HP is few and far between.

I-15 From Baker to the stateline. Between 10am to 2pm and Between 8pm to 11pm. Have some gentle sweep, Long stretch or straight road. Recently repaved. Good visibility for spotting CHP (Not much space for them to hide) CHP plane can be easily spotted. Have to admit though, IT's constantly patrolled by no more than 2 CHP.During those hours, they are either on their breaks or in between shifts.

Another stretch of road I liked to travel is Hwy 101 from S.F. to Santa barbra. Nice long strecth on road w/ good vista. Again, Look out for spotter plane.

Almost any of the 2 lanes in Nevada. But be sure to watch for cattle and wildlife. If there are trees or big brush close to the road be wary.

E35 Autobahn. North out of Basel toward Karlsruhe. Never been caught yet. (Unlimited sections).

Oh, you mean in the USA. No where. Good luck.

I got to ask how do you look for spotter planes? Isn't that a little risky while speeding?

Another Rennlister brought to my attention that for a small fee 2x a year you can open her up with "NO" fear of being caught. "The Silver State Classic"! I will be there this May stretching the C4S' legs at a comfy 110mph average over 90 miles. Should be a relaxing Sunday drive after the full sprint of 170mph the car did on the Autobahn!!!

Hard to explain it. You just see the plane. That strecth of road is like going into a valley. Once you are at the crest, the whole valley is below you and there are hills inthe background. The spotter planes normally travel around 2-3 thousand feet i altitude and 400 yds from the side of the road. And to me, it stand out. PLane traffics should be nil. There is no air port around. 9 out of 10 time, if you see a low flying plane, it's the spotter. As many time I travel that route to Vegas, when the plan is there, it stand out out of the background.

That stretch of roads gave me plenty of 100+ mph and the one and Only 150. One can see traffic 3 to 4 mile down the stretch, if traffic are light to nil, hehehehe, Emily will have fun... Word of Cautions, AS you approach Baker (+/- 10miles) Slow down, notorious for speed trap. It have 2 k-band radar signal to warn you. ANother speedtrap is 5 to 6 miles south of Lenwood. Spotter plane and min of 3 CHP operate that area during the weekend.

Ahh, the notorious speed trap up north.. Is that the 580/I-5 interchange? I know it's a speed trap there. The CHP liked to hang out behind the bridge as you drive into Livermore. IMOF, that's how I learn to spot spotter plane. It alway hover above the interchange. Once, I counted no less than 5 CHP handing out tickets within that interchange.

That's where I got my lsat speeding ticket 6 monts ago in my wife MDX. I know the trap. I slowed down to 80mph. I was zapped going 95mph. I swear I was traveling 80 and the CHP zapped the wrong car. There was a White Miata passing me just when he open up the gun. I thought the Miata bited the bullet. Nope...SIngled me out...Got laughed at by my kids and wife. Was going to fight it... just too far of a drive from L.A. and was a cheap ticket. $145.. Wish I had a detector than,

Didn't travel enough to know where it is. Have they finish repaving the road yet? Last I traveled on 101 southbound, it was rough. IMOF, on that trip, that where I got by tickets going north. On my way back south, took the 101 and it was nice scenic drive...Went to Monterey, beautiful city. Santa barbra, SLO, Malibu etc... nice long winding drive....Wish I had Emily than..

I don't want to steal this thread,--just provide an alternative. Since we know the 911 is designed for cornering and handling (and not just pure top speeds) take a trip into central California north of San Luis Obispo just after the big grade north of SLO on 101.. Take highway 58 to 229 then to route 41. You can end at Cholame, take a look at the James Dean momorial, and then turn around and do it again.

Now, back to your straight line acceleration.
