I'd hate to let this thread die.

Come on, people, lets hear about some more tip nightmares.

You can do better than this.

I'm not the one who started this thread. I'm happy with my tip.

I'm just amused by people who buy them not knowing exactly what they are getting into and then complain when it fails to meet their expectations.

Next time when you buy a 90 K car get a clue beforehand exactly what you are purchasing.

I just dropped my wife's Audi at the dealership for service. Sitting outside, wearing Georgia Distributor plates, was a 997 turbo. It's not unusual to see such things - Ann Arbor is home to Car and Driver as well as Automobile magazine and the cars they test usually have distributor or manufacturer plates. As I was admiring it I looked inside and saw - a tiptronic??? I guess Porsche is pretty confident that the tiptronic is good enough to impress the media. It's not for me - at least not yet. But they wouldn't be making it if there wasn't a demand.

Does the 997 Tip allow you to shift on the floor like a 993 Tip?

TIA

997 turbo tip is faster 0-60 than the 6 speed by about 4/10's of a second!

One thing I noticed about the tiptronic that puzzled me is why doesnt the gear lever gate light up at night??At first I thought the light in the gate was faulty but on closer inspection there is no illumination at all.Even my dads old 80's Honda Civic had it,and Porsche goes to the trouble of making the dash air vent switches light up so why not the gear lever gate!?

The Honda had an indicator panel in between the speedo and rev counter which indicated what position the gear lever was in.
