Default No 997 Cabs allowed in PCA Driver's Ed.?

Reading the rules roll bars that atuomaticaly deploy are not allowed for the Diver's Educational. You must have roll bars that are standing at all times. So I can't do that? Is that the same for PCA autocross too? Or is their a button that I haven't found yet in my new C2 Cab?

Hmmm, the Phoenix group allows 996 and later cabs to do DE's. Or they did last year. Maybe the rules changed.

I just learned this in my new region. I was in Vegas for 4 years and ran my CAB with NO roll bar and the pops were acceptable. Here, it is not allowed. Here is the reason.....this is not a PCA rule but rather a track specific rule. VIR will not allow the 9X6, and 9X7 cars run unless they have a rollbar. Guess what I just ordered?

Hardtop is NOT acceptable either......but then again, you will want to check if it is track specific or region specific.

Consult the Zone 8 rules
http://www.pca.org/zone8/rules.htm

996 Cabriolets that qualify as Zone 8 S/S or S class are subject to the following requirements: All occupants’ helmets must clear a straightedge placed between the top of the windshield directly in front of the occupant’s head and the top of a spacer placed on top of the “pop up” roll bar and measuring 8.50 inches in height directly behind the occupant’s head. If this section cannot be met, a roll bar must be installed.
You should be OK!

Almost Chris! Actively searching. But I did order the new Teq Harness Roll Bar for the CAB. Damn, that wasn't cheap

I could have suggested the power awning that is available. Instead I saved you money.

I'm putting together a shopping list myself for all the goodies my next car will require. Seats, bar, harnesses, rims, tires . . .

Spending money on stuff you actually want to spend money on is fun. It's the hydro bill, gas bill, taxes etc. that I don't think I will ever like to pay.

Hmm, what's that say about roll bars that deploy? Obviously not safe enough for the track anyway.

The explanation they (VIR) gave me was there have been too many accidents where the pops worked but the injury (sometimes fatal) "could" have been avoided or lessened with a roll bar. I have to agree, I would rather have too much safety than not enough.
