Nope...the Z06 is faster, but here we have a PAX (which is a coefficient that is applied to faster classes to equal out the times)...does that make sense?

So say for example...a Mini Cooper on GS running about 3.5 seconds behind the times of a Z06 on SS...that would be about "even" times...it is simply to give all competitors a place in the competition. So...even if I ran the FTD, an S2000 that ran 1/2 a second slower, being in AS would probably be faster in PAX.

so, it's like a handicap in golf? Cool

So what is the difference in raw times between your Z-06 and Sti in general?

I know this is just one statement out of a plethora of topics on this thread...but you're wrong here rcg412. If you're aware of the Predator showcase we had in Israel back in the 90's, don't confuse that with Intellectual Property. While the Germans focus their engineering efforts on cars...it shows. We instead focus our engineering efforts on more effectively killing people...and it shows. Frankly, it's embarrassing how incredibly far ahead we are of the rest of the world in war technologies. To take it one step further, it's almost criminal that we still parade soldiers around for certain duties like Fallujah when we could prosecute many of these missions with technology innovations and keep them out of harms way. [BTW- I signed a message on behalf of Rennlisters on a hellfire last time I was in Iraq...I got pictures of it if you dig that sort of thing.]

O.k. - back to Corvette vs. Porsche.

Here are a bunch of other Hockenheim lap times. You can see that the Z06 is pretty evenly matched against the 996GT2 and 997GT3. My guess is the 997TT will be a comparable time to the 997GT3 or a tick or two faster.

Good point. I'd guess having Walter Rohrl (sp?) as your test driver at the Ring is probably worth a half second or more per lap. In addition to turning cubic laps there in nearly every Porsche of the last couple decades, he is a world champion rally driver as well. Not a bad foundation.

Someone stated earlier that they didn't think Porsche pays attention to comparisons with the Vette. I'd guess the opposite although you may never see or hear a public reaction. Behind the scenes there is a well oiled marketing machine paying very close attention to the competition including the bow tie crowd.

I don't play golf but I guess so...yes, a handicap!

It is very hard to judge times as I have never ran the same exact course with one car and the other on the same event...does that make sense? But, typically, on an average course, and comparing myself to driver's that are usually within tens up or down...my Z06 is about 1.5 seconds faster than the STi...but, I am running the STi on STU as I have 60 more awhp from a UTEC, exhaust and intake and properly tuned. So, using the PAX index, my STi would be about 3/10-4/10's slower than the Z06. On courses with longer slaloms and places where you can romp it, the Z's advantage might be a tad more...fairly close though...

Wow! "The Rennlist AGM-114". That Predator looks pretty slick, too. Thanks for thinking of us, Phantomias.

They only build 2 zl-1 Corvettes in 1969. I think they would sell for around $500,000 if 1 of the 2 owners decided to sell theirs.

That's freakin' awesome, man!

What would be even more freakin' awesome is if that Rennlister christened Hellfire is the one that took out Zarqawi.

Yeah, thanks for thinking of us. Yudaman!

Glad you liked it. It wasn't a Hellfire regretfully that hit Zarqawi, but 500 lb-er. I'm guessing, but I assume you aim to get the job done but leave enough to DNA test the 'leftovers'. Hellfire would've been too light, Greater than a 500 lb-er probably overkill.

I've got to tie this in somehow....

Even the Predator B [not show here] is slower than both the Z06 and the 911 in 0-60 times. All 3 can be used to kill things, so I guess value for function (function being killing things), even the 911 is a value-buy.
