Default My Sunday: Installed Das Schild, Viewed 997TT and CayTTS

Well I've had to work all weekend but I made sure I put in a little p-car time today.

I installed my Das Schild today at the recommendation of several Rennlisters (thank you). It literally is a snap to install - push here, push there, baddabing, it's installed (see pics below). I also managed to test it to 155 mph in the rain - gotta love AWD on days like this here! HeeHeeHee. I think it's important to go really fast after the installation to make sure it seats correctly.

We drove out to Ira Porsche today for a fix. Alfie took me into the garage there to see their Carmon Red 997TT,...uneffingbelievable is all I can say. I want one BIG TIME, but unfortunately for me it's a few years off. I must say that I liked the turbo significantly better in 'real life' than in pics. Please forgive me for not taking any pics (it was a little dark in there anyhow).

There was also a nice 996TT with PCCB to drool over.

Outside, there was a Cayenne Turbo S - Black with Black everything! Niiiice.

It's got about 10 plastic bolts on it (see rear photo - you can sort of see the bolts) that push into the various metal slats on the inside of the boot. You just gently push it into place - there's no 'screwing' so to speak. It inserts miraculously well and easily.

It looks very nice. I just went out and looked at my car to see how it might fit and look. I may do it soon. Thanks!

Call me a Dummkopf, but I see it fits in the hood/trunk area, but still have no idea why we need this thing? What is it's purpose?

Apparently, the trunk dents very easily. Imagine you are driving along and hit a bump or something and whatever you have in the trunk flies up and hits the metal and puts a dent in it. The shield is supposed to prevent the ding/dent from happening.

I bought one for the C2S after I dented the inside of the trunk by closing it while the leather shoulder strap of a Beretta range bag was tossed up on the battery cover. Dented like it aluminum turkey pan... but the range bag did not move the whole twisty trip home.

BTW, here's that Cayenne TT S you saw with clear side markers... kitty not included.

it does protect it - and it finishes off the look of the interior of the trunk, too, IMHO.

Alright Johnny! Does this mean that the Cayenne Turbo S is a ***** magnet?
Do I see the tail of a 2nd kitty in the bottom of your pic?

To echo Johnny and others, I got Das Schild (I love saying that) to protect the inside from inside-out denting. It was recommended by a bunch of R-listers after I put my spare tire in the boot.

Looks great! In regards to the spare (which I have on order for my 06 C2S), I believe you used straps/bungees to hold the spare in place. Are you now feeling better that between the straps and the shield you've eliminated the possibility of the tire shifting and potentially causing damage to the hood?

Thanks for the pics.

Hi Dr. Dave:

Nice finishing touch with Das Schild. Looks nice!

I missed the conclusion of the spare tire thread - what spare did you finally decide on? Looks like it fits well... any issues with it clearing the Nav DVD housing?

Does the car handle any different with the extra 25+ lbs up front?

TIA,

-don

***** magnet! Yeah, any vehicle that brings the food home is their favorite. Good eye, BTW. That is a tail... basically if you stand still at my house a cat will come over to be scratched.

Have to admit that I'm starting to regret not looking harder for a launch 977 tt... after reading about the launch car that mastiffdog found. Damn.
