Default Porsche Audio

Looking for advice in aftermarket upgrade. I am not an audiophile, but I can't stand the Bose system in the car. I have to have something better for the longer drives. Did a few searches couldn't find anything

Nothing yet... You'll have to replace the entire system (head unit & speakers) mucho dinero and you don't really know what your getting until the install is in... ouch!

On long drives I'll take my ipod and headphones.

How do you replace the "head unit" when it an intregal part of the PCM system? Can't be done.

Default sure the head unti can be replaced.

I am putting in a Pioneer AVIC-z1 double DIN head unit with NAV the minute my car gets here. The climate controls are in a separate box

Don't underestimate how interconected the PCM is to the car.

If you have Sport Chrono...individual memory
Trip computer functions
When you plug-in the PIWIS the screen displays "SERVICE" in red.

You'll be the first

Just As I said on the previous post (about getting the Bose on 997). No self respecting audiophile would ever accept the Bose system, upgrade or not.

Neither of those links address replacing the PCM with a radio unit. I'll believe it when I see it.

BTW. I'm settling for the Bose because I don't want a hack to mess with Porsche's seemingly fragile electronics. Search hood latch for more info.

Let me clarify the head unit issue. A separate head unit (receiver) installed in the trunk and operate wireless via control unit or it can go inside the glove box. You leave the PCM alone. Run new speaker wire or splice into the existing cable system (be very careful). A professional installation is required...

Oh NO! Not me. I'm a very simple man when it comes to my electronics. I like pushing one button and getting "good" sound.

I have been around the industry a little through my wife, she used to work for; Bose, Kenwood and Monster Cable. Those guys are very serious and very competitive.
