Unless you can hack into the MOST you'll end up using speaker level outputs for your source. Is that audiophile quality?

Default new head unit...

were talking about a non Bose, non NAV car...for those of us that want to do our own stereo and NAV.

This is my drug of choice...

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...632461,00.html

nothing of MOST will be used.

head unit, amps and speaks two DIN size to fit in the PCM slot with custom bezel.

Forget all the talk about icelink, dennison, cleansweep etc....no splicing, no ipod dreams and hopes.

This unit has voice recognition, bluetooth, digital and analog aux inputs usb and a 30 gig HD! on and on......Oh damn did I mention satellite radio? rear view camera that automatically comes on when car is in reverse? Oh how about playing DVD's on the screen? TV tuner?....I better stop now

CDT makes a HD 642 speaker system that will fit perfectly in the front and a 4 inch rear fill for the rear factory location; throw in two 8" pods with Elemetial desins K series 8's and there you have it. A state of the art system for about $4k, the cost of factory Bose and Nav.

I know that the PCM is inter-connected to the cars CAN/MOST rings in some way.

Great possibility that error messages will be thrown if it is removed...warantee issues for sure if the
PIWIS system tester does not like the missing PCM!

I've yet to see a car with the PCM removed...

Cleansweep? All that does is put an equalizer on your speaker level inputs so that you can't hear the distortion. This goes against the grain of audiophiles. Well real ones anyway.

Is all this in your head? Bose sounds great to me. Anyway who needs any extra weight?

Default how about we leave this as a post for those of us who

actually want to put in aftermarket sound into our cars.

Those of you who dont, there plenty of other posts to hijack.

let us have this small piece of bandwith to exchange ideas. Please?

My own experience with the Bose is that it sucks at lower volumes but when you lower the top and crank the music, it seems to come alive and fill out. Like the dealer told me when I asked about the integrated phone...if you're buying a porsche for the radio...buy a different car.

Do you have the upgraded sound system or did you get the stock. I can tell you I heard both and the upgraded system (the one I bought) is really nice. Sure it's not Krell, but it's better than anything they've ever put in any of the previous p's. Stock or upgrade?
