Default Midnight blue metallic - hard to maintain?

I'm considering Midnight Blue Metallic on a 997 - it reminds me somewhat of the Carbon Black Metallic I had on my M3. How hard is it to maintain? As hard as glossy black? Black seems to show swirls easiest and collect dust and dirt like crazy, but is the best when clean (IMHO).

My 94 RSAmerica was midnight blue metallic (I miss that car), my 996TT is Lapis Blue metallic.
Both are fairly high maintenance colors....but look spectacular when clean. With proper hand washing and waxing, swirls can be fairly well controlled.

I've got a midnight blue c2. It is a royal PITA to keep clean, but it looks fantastic. The first thing people say when they see it for the first time is "nice color!". It looks so good, it is worth the effort IMHO.

This is my second midnight blue car. It will also be the last. It is really difficult to maintain, especially if you use it daily. Without exception (or until I get bored) all my future cars, including my next p-car, will be silver.

In my opinion it is easier than my pure black Mercedes (with no metallic in it) but it is still pretty high maintenance. As others have said, it looks slick when cleaned up. Check out my pics in my sig to see for yourself.

My midnight blue 996 hasn't been too bad to maintain. Better than black, not as good as silver or seal gray. But it looks fantastic on a slightly overcast day...

That's what I figured. My p-car is a daily driver that I don't have time to keep clean all the time, plus I have a local premium car wash do most of the cleaning and waxing. So I think it's probably best to avoid the Midnight color even though it IS very pretty.

( to you guys who can maintain it!)

How about Speed Yellow or Guards Red? I had red on a Honda once that really held up well and didn't show dirt easily. Do either of these show swirls badly? I really like Arctic Silver, but EVERYONE has a silver Porsche around here it seems.

Speed Yellow was my 2nd choice (tied with Black ) and if I were going to use it as a daily driver, that is what I would go with. It seems to be more forgiving to swirl marks than Guards Red, but GR is still much better than the dark colors. GT silver seems to be the best combo of great looks and low maintenance from what I've seen in real life, but it is way too expensive for a color that many will mistake for just regular silver.

I also don't know if it is the shape of the car or a slight change from the factory, but Speed Yellow seems to look nicer to me on 911's from 2003 and greater. It seemed more school bus yellow on cars before 2003. I think it looks great on the 997 too.

The only thing about Speed Yellow is that I don't think it looks as good with the 997 aero kit as some of the other colors (dark colors, especially).

Go for yellow or red so there will be fewer Midnight Blue's on the road!

I have midnight blue and black. Midnight blue is easier than black and no regrets with the color. It looks great (to me) in sunlight. For ease of use, the best color is probably is one of the silvers.
