Carrera S Wheel (Pic)
Not my favorite Porsche wheels. "Lobster Forks" is an apt nickname.
Sorry, but you asked.
I will say they look much better on a pretty, white Cab, though.
But on Black - I opted for Sport Design wheels. They were a bitch
to keep clean for about the first 1500 miles. Now, much better.

I have an 06' C2S Cab and I started out with the Carrea S Wheel but switched to the Sport Design wheel as seen above on Leader's thread. I still have the Carrera S wheel and am considering having them painted Basalt Black and having the Lips machined finished. I have seen this on a flat black car and it looked great. thoughts?
When I first saw the lobster wheel, I felt that it looked too bulky and busy. After some time, the look grew on me and I felt that it looks unique and fit the 997 well.

They're ok, I have them, not the most stunning but they are different, and they probably do a very good job to allow air flow into the brakes. I think they are light weight for stock wheels.
I think BBS wheels are the ones to have for the 997.

Love 'em.
Hate the Sport Designs (though I think they look good on Cayman S).
Carrera S wheels are unique in that you only see that type of wheel in Porsche. They're kind of like the old Fuchs wheel and the more recent 'Turbo' look wheels of the 996 series; they just say 'Porsche', and they look great saying it.

I had them, liked them at first, but grew tired of them. I think I liked the "new 997esque" about them for a while. Switched to Champion RG5 monolites, and like them MUCH better.
Personally I don't think there is a Porsche wheel for the 997 that I don't like (well as long as they aren't painted or chromed), so I like it. I like the stock wheel because it is a look that I think will forever be attached to the 997. I considered them, but decided to go with the Carrerra Classics for reasons I state in my review.
I'd say be happy and don't think about it too much or it'll just drive you crazy.
Sure, I have moments where I consider changing my wheels just because I want a deep inset wheel, but when I look at them I remember how much I love them and the thought goes away. You should try to do the same.
