What are YOU doing up so early this morning at 6:33 am? ... It's 6:10 am on the west coast and I'm at work trying to be productive. ... Lonely are you?

I'm usually here by 5:50, no later than 6, depending on traffic. Yes, there's traffic in LA at all hours, even at 4 am during the week.

Because of my long commute from central OC to LAX I need to be on the road early to avoid traffic congestion. There's still some in certain spots on the 405 but I usually manage to avoid the complete stop-and-goes by staying in the right-most lanes when traffic slows down. Most drivers tend to merge to the left-most, supposedly "fast" lane, so that lane usually gets congested and is where most rear-enders and chain reaction accidents occur. They just don't like to deal with merging traffic in the right lane - they'd rather stay in a "safe" lane and ride it out listening to whatever it is sheep they listen to. So that opens up a lot of pockets for me to zig and zag through and make it here without wasting much time on the freeways.

On the way home, fuggetaboutit. It always takes longer on the trek home, especially on Friday afternoons. But I stop at a gym in Long Beach on my way home to help split up the commute. It's just off the 405 and about half way home. So I've managed to make the commute tolerable. ... Now if I move further away, well, I'll just have to learn to live with it ....or change jobs.

Closer woud mean leaving the newer, more beautiful OC neighborhoods and being closer to crowded, congested LA, which anyone who lives down here and appreciates what we have down here tries to avoid doing at all costs, including the cost of putting up with hellacious commutes.
