Two months ago, I bought a seal gray/black 06 997 S, and I've loved it so much that my wife and I just walked out of the dealership with a black/black 06 Cayenne S for her. Quite a change from the numerous Audi's that we've owned since 1998.

I wish I'd stumbled across this site before buying either car, since there seem to be a lot of really good posts here.

Hauser - Congrats and Welcome to the Porsche Phunny Pharm! Hang on to your wallet, 'cuz these guys will have you considering so many mods, it will make your head spin and your wallet skinny!

BTW, it is customary for "Newbies" (and right now you are one) to post pics of their P-car and give us a little more info about the options. If you don't know how to post pics, let me know and I'll furnish you with "can't miss" instructions on how to post pics. Once again, Welcome!

Join the club...I love my Cayenne S and Carrera S combo. The only problem is that you may have to get your wife into a different car! I really enjoy driving my Cayenne so much (and we had initially bought it for her) that I had to get the wifey a different car!

Statman - don't mean to go way off topic, but wondering what you think of the R500 - with a 4 y/o and 10 mo. old, we may be outgrowing the CS.

That is the car I put my wife in! It is the ULTIMATE family car. Three legitimate rows of seats. The third row can actually seat 2 real humans comfortably for longer than a trip around the block. The panoramic roof is great. The entertainment amenities are outstanding. My daughter can sit in the second row, which is every bit as comfortable as the front seats, and listen to her own CD, SAT, or FM selection on headphones (complete with her own volume control built into the rear console) while my wife and I turn on a different source through the rest of the car's speakers. We have the DVD players built in to each of the back headrests. Each screen is capable of playing different movies at the same time while listening through indiependent wireless headphones. We got the R500, so it moves pretty well--a surprisingly fast vehicle. It is a big vehicle--longer than an S Class and I think it may even be a bit longer than an Escalade. It does not appear that way, though. It is sleek and not too tall--it looks like a station wagon version of the CLS to me. My wife absolutely loves this car--which made me the happiest guy on earth....beacuse now I get to drive the CS as my winter "beater" and then drive the 997S cab as my summer fun car. So, talk your wife into the R and keep the CS for yourself! Better yet, get her the R350 and save yourself a few bucks--she'll never notice that its a V6 rather than a V8 (this is probably what I should have done!).

Thanks, Statman. Unfortunately my wife knows the difference between V6's and V8's, apart from the other goodies the 500 might have. But she lets me have my fun car so can't complain.

jcnesq, what do you think about the Audi Q7? I too in the market for a family car/van/suv to replace the minivan. I thought about the MB R, the wife liked it but I am not too crazy about the style of the rear even though I know it gives more room.

I hate the look of the R
I'm sorry, but maybe if I had one 's pug nose constantly peering at me from the driveway it'd be different....

jcnesq, have you looked at the R500 in person? My wife and I considered it, but it didn't have any front seat headroom for me, and the rear window visibility was terrible. It reminded me of the postage-stamp view from a Chrysler Crossfire.
