Default Odd holder at rear of console

I'm finding that Porsche has appeared to have changed the configuration of the consoles,--particularly in the rear.

Which do you have,--a car without an open container at the rear or does your console lid extend all the way to the rear?

I'm also wondering if it has to do with Cab vice Coupe

Picture of the first config (photo thanks to Easy_Rider911):

I'm fairly certain my coupe does NOT have the open thing - I'll look tomorrow.
The 3D cam file of a 997 cab (see link below) also shows no open holder. Maybe you could slide a pack of smokes in it!

BTW, is it my imagination or is your rear view mirror in the passenger-side rear seat? Just because it's a rear view doesn't mean it's supposed to be there.

Check out this rear compartment lid,...I think it's nice looking. Taken from Porsche UK site under the exclusive links (some very very cool 997s on that site):

I have the rear holder/cut out. My daughter uses it to hold her Gameboy games.

My 997S launch coupe has the cutout like in Edgy's picture. My 4 y/o daughter uses it to store all kinds of interesting things (most of which I have to constantly pick up and secretly throw away!)

Damn...everytime I think I know everything I want to do to my 997, another option pops up on this board. My list keeps getting longer and longer!!! (I also have those lighted door sills on my list)
