Exclamation Exhaust Recall tip!

I have a 05 C2s... My friendly Porsche dealer called me yesterday as I am scheduled to bring my car in to fix this recall next week. They told me that if I wanted to upgrade to the chrome tail pipes now would be a great time to do it as there will be no labor charge as they are fixing the exhaust recall anyway. So I said why not. Just thought I would pass it on to you guys.

I just took my car in this morning for the recall work. Didn't even think about upgrading to the chromies until reading your email. Just called my service advisor and he's checking into it. How much did your guy quote you for the upgraded parts?

My dealer upgraded me to the chrome tips for free. The install took about five minutes. The chrome tips look a lot better. My original tips were looking pretty bad.

Wow, you've got a good dealer. My dealer said, "How much would it be worth to you?" My reply: "No more than a hundred bucks."

Service manager just called. He said, "We were able to find the parts you requested. They will be installed free of charge." Very nice.

Ask and you shall receive.

Glad you guys got it. My place charged me 450 for the tips. The dealership I use is in a very very wealthy town. They don't give away coffee in this place so I am happy to get the free labor not that it really matters but hey why not.

Hey Weissy, would that be Danbury Porsche? I very nearly bought a car from there, but found them extremely difficult to deal with. Sorry to hear they didn't comp you on the chromie tips. Wow, $450 sounds a bit steep. Maybe you're getting nicer ones than I am. We'll see what mine look like in a few hours when I pickup the car. One other nice thing my dealer did was provide a comp courtesy car for the day while the work is being done. My first time in a Cayenne S. Nice car.

No the dealer is in Greenwich New Country Porsche. Very good dealer good service department and what not. But like I said nothing is for free in that town. Maybe I am getting something different but I doubt it. They will give me a loaner car but get this its not a Porsche.

Unreal. Your dealer is missing the boat on many counts. By giving me the chrome tips for free, my dealer strengthened our relationship. And by setting me up in the Cayenne S loaner, they just cross-sold me my next SUV. I had planned on getting a Jeep. Bu I love the Cayenne, and had never had the opportunity to drive one in the past.

Weissy, I'm in Greenwich too, so I am sure I will be in for the same deal. How do you like the chrome tips? <Looking to see if there is $450 lying around somewhere>

X54 option -- cost me $480 when I ordered it from the factory on my '06 S Cab 997.
