Exhaust Recall tip!

I haven't gotten them yet. The car is going to them in a week, when I have it done I will post the pics. And yes if you want to know the last loaner they gave me was something along the lines of a ford something or other. What are you going to do? Par for the course in this area.

Thanks guys!
My Porsche dealer have an Enterprises counter also, so they gave me a "Preimum" model as a loaner...a f****** Pontiac Grand Prix. I think I actually complained about it when they did the survey over the phone afterward.

Just looking at this thread with interest because my 6 month old 997 carrera s cabriolet tiptronic is booked in for the exhaust tip replacement here in the uk in the next couple of weeks. At the moment it has the standard tips which look awful now despite me trying to clean them up,so I have requested that the chrome tips are fitted. The dealer has said they will do this however we have not discussed what the charge will be.The first dealer I called would not fit chrome tips because they said they could only replace like for like even though I offered to pay the extra.Typical Porsche UK service for you!!

Yes if they will not allow a reasonable ammount for the stock tips I will take them and either use them myself if the chrome ones start looking bad,or sell them on to somebody who wants to replace their old ones.My stock ones are only around 6 months old and look awful already. It always annoys me with Porsche-our Audi TT has chrome tips as standard,is nearly 3 years old and they still look as new.The Audi cost £25k and the Porsche £75k,yet Porsche take £195 off you for the chrome ones!!

My 997s was built in November 2005 and is on the recall list for the exhaust tips. However, are cars with the factory installed chrome tips included in the recall? My dealer was investigating this as he was having a hard time finding the part listed in the recall.

Yes indeed. Ask and you shall receive. One thing for sure, don't ask and you will not receive.
I asked. My dealer will put on the chrome tips for free. They made me promise not to disclose their location on the forum.
Ask and there is a good chance you'll get it for free.
