Question Who gets to drive your 997?

I wanted to check to see how all of you feel about letting others drive your 997. The only other person that I've allowed to drive my 997S is my wife This along with the existence of a back seat makes it a family car...or at least that was my justification for spending 90k

I voted no one, I'd let my wife drive it, but she sucks at stick shift, I used to let her drive my 360 (F1 transmission)...First time she floored it, she squeeled and promptly took her hands off the wheel ...One of those life flashing before you moments

Do we really need that much personal info?

The first time I drove a Porsche I was so impressed that I bought right away. That said, I cannot deny any good friend or relative the same pleasure. At the end of the day, it's a special car, but it is only a car...

Nobody but my wife is allowed to drive the car till the end of the year, as otherwise I have to pay the import taxes......

After that: some close family and friends should have the same pleasure once or twice. Will make them talk different about P-cars

I let my friend borrow my brand new 996 (2003 tiptronic) when I got it, but the 997 (manual) I am a bit stingy with - in Japan mosty people think they can drive stick shifts but sadly most people I KNOW can't!

My wife has twice driven the Carrera from the garage and twice backed it back in. She has refused all other offers to operate the vehicle, and she could do so competently. The kids would like to drive it, but I will make them go through a DE course first after each gets their license.

Although I plan to take careful care of my car and brake it in as Porsche recommends, I can't help but sharing the joy I have for this car with my friends. To that end, I'll let anyone who asks drive it (with me in the car of course). Most people are so excited about driving that they wouldn't dare abuse it, so it generally isn't a problem. I did have one friend who thought it would be fun to see if he could get all four wheels to spin when he drove over a huge ice patch, but the car never lost traction and I wasn't amused. GRR!!!!

I've had my car for 4.5 days now and I've had 4 friends drive it, and two of them (including the hot dog) wrote me a letter to tell me how it really made their day to get to drive such a cool car. I know if I was in their shoes, I'd feel the same way.

My wife refuses to ride in it. I voted no one, but I will let my daughter drive it on long trips, when I am with her, when it's not raining or snowing, or dark, and not much traffic, on a straight road.
