About 14 months ago, when I began to seriously look to buy a Porsche, I signed up on ebay so I could use some additional search functions. That ID was geta911. Shortly after I bought my '04 996, I "found" the Rennlist Forum and since I had my P-car, I modified my ebay ID to be gota911.

I would like to hear the story behind the handle of gr8330

Well, the first Board I ever joined was at avsforum.com which is a Audio / Video / Home Theater Board. I needed a username so I picked 1080iAddict which implied I am addicted to HDTV (which is 1080 lines of resolution). Then I joined here and picked the same name so I would not forget my handle!

My real name is Kurt but I'm an avid scuba diver and I travel to Hawaii (particularly Kauai) frequently, hence kauai_diver. Ok,ok I know you could think of a hundred better places to dive like the Bahamas, Cancun, Cozumel, Fiji, etc.. but hey

Well, the odds of an event can be calculated as Odds = p / 1 – p, where p is the probability of the event, such as two statistics professors winding up in the same Porsche forum. Unfortunately, I have absolutely no idea what value to plug in for that probability.

Yes, you guessed it, Im the other stats prof.

Now, what about Edgy01 ? Does that username refer to living life on the edge?

"Nitmr" is pronounced Nightmare. It the official Department of Defense abbreviation for the VMA-513 "Flying Nightmares" and is used when a flight from VMA-513 (Marine Attack Squadron 513) files a DD-175 (Military Flight Plan).

When filing a flight plan, a number would be added to the end of "Nitmr". For example, if "Nitmr 11" was entered on a flight plan, ATC would call that flight "Nightmare One One".

The first AV-8B that had my name painted below the canopy rail was aircraft 26 from VMA-513 or "Nightmare Two Six".

What an achievement! To have one's name painted below the canopy of an AV-8B. That is just BAD ***.

Well Done... and thanks, BTW.

Littlebigfish - came from the time I was 3-4 years old and caught a pretty big flounder off the coast of Maine. I use it as my online poker login as well which carries a connotation in that game.

I'm a growing fan of Japanese samurai films from the 50's and 60's. One serial character is Zatoichi, the blind swordsman. I thought to use that name as my handle, but thought it too obscure and not the right reference for someone who owns a sports car. Since I also follow Formula1, I went with the last name of the former number 2 driver for Toyota: Takuma Sato. Also probably not the best reference as he has a tendency to blow up his engines or tangle with other drivers. Ah well . . we can't always be perfect.
