I'm curious about what people are reading out there as their favorite magazine about Porsche's. I'm a member of PCA now so I get its magazine (Panorama) and I've got a trial subscription to Excellence, but I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it. What do you read?
In addition, if you have a Porsche favorite book then I'd like to hear about it. I have Porsche 911 - Perfection by Design which has great pictures and good info, but the writing doesn't flow very well in my opinion.

I have read every Porsche magazine I could find. Excellence, in my opinion, is the best. If you go to their website,excellence-mag.com, they will send you a free issue if you subscribe.
If you are looking for a first rate book about Porsche, get the 3 volume set, "Porsche-Excellence Was Expected", by Ludvigson. It is worth the price. "Porsche 911 Perfection by Design", by Leffingwell is ok, but not up to the same level of detail.

I've purchased one copy of Excellence to get the 997 C4s review, and I now have my free trial copy that I got from their web site as you suggested. I enjoy it, but it does seem to be 80% ads. There's some cool things in those ads, but that is the last thing I need to have tempting me!
I haven't made up my mind if I'm going to stick with Excellence or not.

Agree with all previous posts. Especially Total 911 magazine and Excellence was Expected. And would like to add the book "The Gold-Plated Porsche" by Stephan Wilkinson -- funny and entertaining memoir of his misadventures in restoring a 911 SC.

I recently received a free copy of Christoforous and was not impressed. It appeared to be similar to the BMW magazine that came with my dearly departed Z3 and was primarily travel/leisure/fine living and not really a car mag. Porsches almost seem incidental to many of the articles. It seems like anyone involved with it never got their hands dirty working on a car or has any idea of the parts inside.
Fine watches are a fascinating topic; get the magazines "Watch Time", $7 or "International Watch", $8. Both are worth a read. There are high end watches that cost more than the most expensive Porsche ever made, with movements that have hundreds of components that are machined and decorated on a microscopic scale. Truly amazing. The cost of a top end gold or platinum watch with a first class movement could put a Ruf Rt12 or Carrera GT in your driveway. A watch collection equal in value to Jay Leno's cars would fit in a suitcase.
The Porsche brand watches look great, but are overpriced(What a surprise!). You can get a nice sport chronograph(built-in stopwatch) with a mechanical selfwinding movement in many well known Swiss brands for about $1K to $5K that is just as good.
Sorry for the off-topic discussion.
