Good idea, Dan. Anything that will distribute and spread the load should work.

I used a jack in my first epoxied floor without any issues. I expect the same from my new one (#3).

Thumbs up Garage Floor

I used the Armstrong vinyl composition tiles (VCT) in my first garage, but in my second garage. I used Racedeck.

Building on this old thread:

I'm repainting/remodeling the tiny 1 bay garage I have. I do a lot of work in this garage (swapped heads on the BMW, total frame-up vintage moto restoration, built an oak dining room table etc.). I fully expect to use the jack, hot tires, and jackstands once a week on average going forward. I can also see me spilling brake fluid or something at some point. With that in mind I want a tough floor. Can anyone offer advice on the following:

-Armor seal 1000 epoxy 2 part epoxy, tintable $500/2 gallons
-Shield crete 2part epoxy $ non-tintable $160/2 gallons

I'm leaning toward the armor seal but when I called Sherwin williams they were almost pushing me toward the shield crete. I'm 95% toward the armor seal at this point especially since you can tint it but I wanted to see if anyone on board had experience with either.

Thanks

epoxy-coat.com is where I got my kit. Instructions were great, application was a piece of cake and 2yrs later it still looks great. Have a look at the website.

It can be slippery. Even distribution of the flakes is key. I ordered double the standard amount of the flakes to get more of a slip-resistant coating. I didn't get the spread as well in a few spots and it can get slick when wet. They also include some silica to add if you want. The silica is rough and very slip resistant.
I didn't want the silica everywhere, so I just applied it at the stair landings and doorways. I think it looks great and is very easy to keep clean. There are no tiremarks after 2 years, just a little discoloration from driving the same spots over and over.

Stunning stuff. American garages live better than 80% of the world's population!

Wow...I thought that I was bad. I'm a little man, a nothing man. My garage is sooooo nothing. Spotless, but ...nothing.

I'm going to have period of self doubt now. I'll be o.k. later.

God forbid the guy buys another car, he'll have to add another wing or second story.

Oliver, figure about $5/sq.ft.

You're a pretty hands on guy, and could probably do a pretty good job on your own.
