Default '06 997 Coupe Questions

1. Can you close the open windows/sunroof using the key in the driver's door lock?

2. Does the LED indicator light-up in the PSM off-switch when you shut the PSM off?

Thanks

1.) YES...Unlock the door with the remote, then hold car key in the unlocking direction until the windows reach the desired position. (windows only, not sunroof)

2.) Yes

LOL I did !!! I read it several times (I have it downloaded on my PC) prior to delivery.

The LED doesn't light up on the PSM switch (the off indicator does come on in the OBC display) . The windows don't operate with the key either by following the instructions in the manual.

On a side note the A/C doesn't work either. I have a service appt. tomorrow. The service manager already verified that it is fully charged and not in hibernation mode. The PCM screen has a defect in it so they are replacing that too.

Is there a hack to fix the half-*** auto-up feature of the R/S window?

Is there a hack to keep the Sport Mode engaged after engine shut-down?

My '02 996 was almost four years old with not one problem.

Sorry to see you have some issues with your new baby....

If it makes you feel any better, my single cd in-dash never worked and I just got it replaced at 9000 miles. Also, I had to have both of my PSE mufflers replaced due to a rattle.

Regardless, once made perfect, they really are a dream. I hope the dealer gets that stuff taken care of ASAP.

Sport mode shuts off after you turn off the power. Just hit that sport button during your "start up sequence" and you should be good.

Can't help ya with the rear shade, don't have it. But I hope you enjoy your new ride!

I have a start-up checklist for the boat but not my cars. I hate stuff that resets itself after it's manually set the way I want it.

I think the problems are related to some things not waking up properly after the car was put to sleep prior to shipment.

Overall the 997 is a big improvement over the 996 in every area that matters so I'm definitely not unhappy with the car.

Everytime I get in mine, I get to tell the CD player to play the (mp3) CD-R I made in RANDOM oder.
Then, when I start the car again I get to tell it to do that all over again.
And again, and again, and again.
My little Japanese car "remembers" Random play, P-car can not it seems.
Also, P-car came with a WARNING message flashing, "Warning, headlights are mis-aligned".
Neither are biggies for sure but both are a pain in a $100,000 vehicle.

I agree with you and have one more "pain" for your list--when the low fuel light comes on, why do we also need the exclamation point in the message center with no way to clear it?

Oops, tested the changer, but not the single CD player... So far everything else is fine...

Update:

1. I can't close the open windows/sunroof using the key in the driver's door lock.

Service Mgr says this feature is not on the '06 997 due to PCNA "safety concerns".

2. The LED indicator doesn't light-up in the PSM off-switch when PSM is switched off.

New switch was ordered

3. A/C is not working.

Fixed. There was an electrical wiring defect in the connection to the compressor which they fixed.

Would someone with a '06 997 verify #1 on their car. TIA

They must have installed the wrong PCM, or it has the wrong SW, or they didn't configure it correctly because I no longer have:

1. The individual memory functions by key no longer appear in the Main Menu

2. The Sport Chrono functions no longer appear in the Trip menu

I popped the front compartment to load the CD magazine and noticed the tech who worked on the car left off the two caps from the A/C lines. I removed the batt and trim piece to replace them.

The CD player doesn't recognize some of the CDs it had no problem with the other day. The CDs work in the head unit and every other CD player in the house and other cars.

To top it off the tech also managed to scrape off the coating on the fan switch so that needs to be replaced too.

On the upside is hasn't developed an RMS leak at 350 miles!

Thanks for checking. I need to find a hack for that too.
